Yes..whenever you use each emulator..you must have the command line /bin/emulator /usr(other command line arguments)

EG: /bin/mame2000

/bin/mame2003

There's been alot of diff versions out..a vast variety of emulators..upgrades..customization techniques..compression tools...more upgrades..third party controllers..wireless controllers..etc.you have to decide what you want and how to get it...lots of questions and links in this thread to find what you seek...Too many questions to be answered..

I just want to put the games on there around the 600 700 mark for him now the rest he can figure out on he's own

It's not too difficult do you have roms already on your computer? Have you even downloaded hakchi yet? What have you done so far?

Well I think my computer is to old for hakchi to work. My USB driver is from 2006 and I tried zadig and it didn't work

Has anybody gotten Odyssey roms to start? The o2em emulator works, but when the rom loads, it sits on a "Game Start" screen. I know on the original Odyssey games you had to push a button on the keyboard to start the game. Is there a remap button control in retroarch to remap the buttons or configuration to get the game to start? I looked but couldnt find anything. I tried Frogger as well...that games starts, but the controller wont move the frog.

Any ideas ??

Hi!

I have hakchi 2.12 on My mini nes and all games works as they should (i guess)
I also Only play nes games on it.

Will i gain anything to instal 2.16c or Will it be the same?

I still am using 2.12, maybe when the new gui is finished i will start with a new version, but until then i stick to 2.12

Can someone please tell me....do compressed NES roms work if I intend to just keep the unit I am using NES based and am only adding on top of the original 30? I tried using Helping Hand....placed it in the root of my exe and ran option 4, then 1 and can see the reduced size when I open the program back up. The problem is that no games / or some games now seem to work. Others just reboot back to the game list. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

I am running about 76 NES games including the original 30, i never compressed anything, and a few months back there were people running, i think, up to 700 NES games without compressing anything.

Awesome and I can get the 650 + I need on it but notice it takes up like 230 mb. I was concerned Save Sates down the rd would fill it up as I was under the impression from reading someones comment that they add a lot of space. You think I would be fine and not need to compress them? Also anyone know of a method to compress them and still get them to work....please keep in mind I am only doing NES on this unit so have not installed other modules etc. THANK you for any help!

There isn't much you can gain, but you can compress, but will you ever get to play all the 650+ games ?
Every time i think about adding another game i always stick with the ones i have, and even that includes some hacks, altough the NES was great there were a lot of shitty games, i own about 60-70 original cartridges and i didn't even install all of them on the NESC. I installed the GB and GBC games and removed them a day after because it looked crap...the same goes for GG games.
So now, i have a nice machine with 76 NES games, 1 SNES game, 4 MSX games, 17 PCE games, 25 Master System games and 19 Megadrive games...and maybe...if i wouldn't get my hands on the mini SNES, if it arrives, i would install some more SNES games, but for now, me and the kids hardly know what to play because there is so much.

I hear ya man. I was thinking it's awesome to have them all on it since I have a Pi3 etc. I also have a second NES Classic I was thinking of using for everything else such as arcade games for use with the sticks. Maybe I will just leave the library for NES how it is now and weed out the popular games later on that unit and just keep those.

If there is a solid way I can take a romset I have and compress all the zips to where they will still load on the NES Classic that would be appreciated!
I noticed I have been able to dramatically reduce them in size with the method above but they do not load after that is done.

Also on a side note ---> Here are some custom NES letters I made based on the HS ones. I thought they would make the menu etc come together a bit better. Hopefully someone enjoys them! I personally set it to split them by letter in Hackchi2 and also 30 per page.

Then you dont need to compress them..they are small enough if you're only going to have nes games..

I actually think I am going with SNES as well and a select few beat em ups for MAME. I will play around with it for a bit and see if I can figure it out. Thanks
