Hardware Sd card write protected

Hi everyone! I started using a 32gb micro sd card for the wii u, and all of a sudden, it became write protected.
The thing is it still works on the wii u, but i can't use it on a pc. Any help please?

Before i jump to conclusion: Check if your SDCard "mother" card isn't set to "read only" [White block switch]. If it's set as r/w and still reports as read only, It got corrupted. Most SDCards [Overally flash memory] make themselves as read to prevent further corruption.

Exactly

Make sure the little yellow/white/whatever switch is pushed upward, not downward

If that doesn't work I will gladly copy and paste you a guide, because your laptop might be stupido

I did try pushing the switch, and also tried in more than one pc/laptop.

Format it in PC with guiformat see if it's able to format.
Sometimes forcefully formating SDCards fixes it. Atleast in my case.
If it gives errors then you should probably get a new one and trash your old one. [Be sure to break it or those collecting trash will dump data from it

Once you've checked the little switch. Try a different SD card reader.

If it doesn't format under any circumstances, it's dead. The Wii U operating system constantly writes to Wii U formatted storage, which is why it's recommended to use a USB hard drive instead of SD cards or flash drives. Most likely it reached its write limit because of that.

It's a little deceptive because although it's "dead" you can usually still access the files that were already on there. You just can't write anything more to it or even delete anything. Same things happen sometimes with SD cards in phones.

The "little switch" you are referring to is a tab that pushes a little button inside the slot that tells the computer it is in write mode. It does not connect electrically to any part of the SD card; it is part of the case like a record tab on a cassette tape. If the card is in read only mode in both tab states and across computers, then the card has a faulty curcuit. If the slot does this to any SD card, then the button in the slot is likely damaged and the slot will need to be replaced. If the tab falls off and you lose it, you will have to put tape over the tab track to write to the SD card again.

Delete and cut work on the sd while in the pc? The locking mechanism may be at fault. I have an SD card that has a very loose tab, so it gets flipped to lock while inserting the card.

I already fixed It by putting tape around the SD Card. Thank you anyways.

I can't understand what happened, i tried 2 others SDcard, same result = readonly
(the lock is not moving when inserting)

This must have something to do with the wii-U SDCard plug...

@Laf111 The Wii U uses a laser to read out the switch. Laser blocked = read/write, laser passing = read only.
Now this laser is positioned so badly that a real small split between the casing of the adapter and the switch is enough for the laser to pass through... This split might be so small, you can't even see it... And that's where the tape comes in: It will block the laser no matter what.
