It's nice looking,but the original 2ds is more simple since it doesn't have a closeable lid.I don't know why they didn't just go the extra mile and add 3d to the new one or make a 3d version aswell.

It happens with a lot of consoles. PS4 with it's Pro version, Xbox with the Xbox One. The list goes by. Nintendo usually do not ask for stuff before doing it overall. But if they did it,there's a market for it,perhaps
in my opinion its a waste,

Isn't the 2DS family the cheap alternative of the 3DS systems, Nintendo is releasing a cheaper alternative for the New 3DS and people still complain? It sounds like having a wider variety of options is something bad.
the points for this I could imagine are
--someone who can't see 3d but wants a new nintendo 3ds for the added horsepower but without the 3d effect
--same idea but for small kids who it's unsafe for 3d
--people who don't care about 3d
--people who want a dsi xl with a functioning shop

Nintendo is probably the most money hungry video game company in the industry. They always use dated technology from 2006 and sell it for 300$,yet on the temp everyone defends nintendo. I remember with the n3ds people were convinced that it was a completely new gaming system and it wouldnt be like the DSi. It's exactly like the dsi. Then nintendo rereleased the wii for 100$. They are always using cheap tactics to milk the most money possible. Wind Waker HD,Twilight HD,Mario Kart deluxe. Like come on nintendo,you guys couldnt have made a fresh mario kart for the switch? 100$ for a fucking dock? Come on now.
Uh, yeah, i used to be on that clan before i moved to the ps4, sorry but if i continue here we are going to get into off topic.
Just keep in mind that there will be always people who buy new consoles and it is obviously going to compete with the switch, offering a lower price plus all the current and upcoming 3ds library.
Topic title asks if there's a point in the 2DS XL existence then goes into a poll asking if user plans on buying which could lead to erroneous correlation.
I definitely see a point in it (price, marketing) but I don't plan on buying it because I have a N3DS XL.

Is there a point? Not really. The only point of it is to get the 3DS family to soak up more cash until it's (inevitable) "death" in 2018. Like a sponge.
