Hardware Can't get 5.1 audio

My main receiver, 'bout 6 years old, didn't decode LPCM.
Luckyly, i had an old one, 'bout 15 years old, that had Multi Channels inputs.
You can see them in this link, in the lower left corner :

i just bought this lone decoder :

so i could get the 6 channels from my Switch, and enjoy 5.1 surround.

Just keep it on Straight (but not PURE if you have that) for all the time. Except for retro games which use Dolby Pro Logic, for which you should use Surround Decode with the DPLII Game preset. Or at least that's how I use it. And then maybe 7ch Stereo for stereo sources

This is driving me mad - the Wii U did 5.1 properly, on the same TV with the same receiver, why won't my Switch?

Sorted it, on Sony receivers, under Video > Audio settings you can set either "TV+Amp" or "Amp". I had it on "TV+Amp", setting it to just "Amp" fixes it

I have a similar issue with a denon AVR. Cant find a fix. Any help?

The Nintendo Switch doesn't support Dolby or DTS due to licensing. The Switch can only output surround sound via raw unencoded PCM. If your receiver doesn't support PCM audio, you can't get surround sound on the Switch. It's the same thing on the Wii U.
