Sonic Forces: Classic Sonic Gameplay Trailer

SEGA has put out a trailer for its upcoming modern Sonic game, Sonic Forces. This title is the 25th anniversary game for the Sonic franchise, despite releasing a year late. It appears to be a sequel to 2011's Sonic Generations, featuring both Classic and Modern Sonic. This specific trailer shows off Classic Sonic in a new rendition of Green Hill Zone. Sonic Forces is set to launch Holiday 2017, for Switch, PC, PS4, and XBO.

I thought this game was going to be impressive, much like Generations, Colors, and Unleashed. Yet, it has done nothing but disappoint me thus far. At the very least it's not another 06' that was rushed, rather a game that uses the same old Nostalgia cram down my throat method. It's rather sad; I want to see games like Unleashed, and Colors which have tons of hype, but new elements, interesting stories, and amazing sound tracks and levels. Which, Forces has provided some of that; but I feel like they're just milking the franchise at this point, and not focusing on making a quality and interesting/different game experience. But, at least Mania is more promising. Although, since Forces is for PC; I can definitely see this game getting the same Mod Treatment like Generations. Especially since it's running on the Hedgehog engine.

I actually liked the Werehog levels. They were a good rest from running fast, and allowed me to wail on enemies, and just have fun~ Of course, not everyone liked it, and it could've been improved; yet, it added some good things to the plot and story line.

The gameplay of Sonic Unleashed is identical to the one in Colours and thus far in Generations too, had it not been for the Werehog stages and wonky framerate (played it on 360/PS3) I would've enjoyed it.

I've recently bought the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed so I'll be sure to try it sometime when I setup my Wii/WiiU again, maybe to the small CRT TV I have. Speaking of Wii, I want to play Skyward Sword but the thought of using Wiimote + Nunchuk is a bit of a bummer. :-/ Hope Nintendo ports it to the Switch.

Well, Project Unleashed on Generations is fantastic. I highly recommend you try it out for PC.

Please end me. They literally just ported sonic generations physics for Classic Sonic and did nothing to improve how stiff he moves.
It literally is the same engine; they probably based the entire game off of Generations and just improved it elsewhere, and only left Classic Sonics components the same (Besides animations).

Lets see...
Invisible Springs, Automation, Linear Level design, Awful and not fitting Music, Another GHZ even though they said it's not...

Reused assets from Generations and Lost World (Textures and some models), Awful Physics both on ground and Air.

Looking awful so far!
Great job Sega.

Even i can make a better GHZ /shot...
well, in 2D. http://i.imgur.com/kUPGaYC.png

Trailer spoiler: Right was held. Game was won.

Sonic is so goddamn boring. It is far and above one of the least interesting series that somehow got popular because, I dunno, hedgehogs.

Well, it was to be expected, I guess. New Sonic game, everyone reacting with negativity, obligatory "I never liked the series, " now all we need now are 10 year olds defending the game in incoherent all-caps "sentences."

I'll be honest; the game could be a lot better, but it could also be a lot worse. At least Sega is sticking with something that worked the first time instead of pulling some weird ass mechanic out of their anuses and shoehorning it into the gameplay with as much grace as a drunken truck driver rushing to the bathroom in a fit of diarrhea.

Do you know what's better than 2.5D?
.
.
.
Anything

You lose the beautiful crisp colors and sprites of 2D and you also lose the extra dimension of 3D.
