Try rebuilding the database before doing the adrenaline easy installer again. Usually it will when is installed but maybe something broke and needs fixing before time.

How do I do that? I thought rebuilding the database was something you had to reset the system to do, and if you reset the system it goes back to using internal storage.

No matter. I've got ARK-2 working now, although it doesn't have the bells and whistles of Adrenaline. That's a shame, because a lot of PSP games are as ugly as sin on a big screen TV. That grainy shader does them no favors on a display larger than five inches. Also, I really wish I could get rid of that stupid Playstation intro that pops up every time you start a game. You can skip it with circle, but it shouldn't be there at all.

Turn off the system, after that hold R button and hold power button until the recovery menu displays. Then select rebuild database and wait until menu loads.

Then go to web browser, activatte henkaku then use the adrenaline installer i linked to before. I guess it should work. I used this with no problem.

After it sucessfully installs. Activate henkaku again and then open vita shell 1.61. Mount thee usb and then copy the pspemu folder from ux0: partition to the uma0: partition. Then mount usb as memorycard. It should work.

And that did the trick! There were some bumps (the claim that all the files on my flash drive were corrupt did not please me, but it was a false alarm), but it ultimately got done. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, i suppose is should go without saying to make sure the storage device isn't defective. Otherwise corrupted stuff happens. So that is always a issue. Using a HDD could be a good move but only depends on how much you plan to actually use in terms of storage. Stuff for emulators i guess internal storage works fine. Actual games (PS1 PSP PSVITA) Should be for the usb. Though without psn access is probably not as useful at the moment. Unless you just use psp/ps1 games or something.

I kind of think the "file is corrupt" error was a fluke. I'd gotten an error when I tried to mount the flash drive, and it didn't allow me to run any of my apps until I rebooted. After that, things seemed okay.

And yeah, I just wanted to dip my toe in the water with this hack. I bought a 32GB flash drive especially for it, and probably will just fill it with PSP and a few Vita games. I'll probably stick with my MiBox for emulation; it handles it better and offers more options for controllers.

Well i mean sure, controller options are limited but is still nice to take to somewhere when you wanna play games with someone. Least playing psp games work wirelessly with psvita and psp on adrenaline. Still though internal storage is enough for emulation. But if is working that is good. Any kind of new devices you get you should test with that software to check for good flash drives.

So the process seems to be straight-forward, install your VPK through VitaShell and then copy the resulting PSXXXXXX folder to your USB memory inside the APP folder... Then mount the usb as ux0 and play off usb flash drive .... but how do I properly make room after on the internal memory/card and still be able to launch when mounting ux0 at a later time. If I just delete the whole PSXXXXX file off internal, bubbles stay put until the PSTV decides to do a database refresh and then the bubbles dissapear. If i leave the eboot.bin and sce folder, I usually get errors later (12828-1) and lose the whitelest. Games become unusable and I have to reinstall.

If I make a small vpk and just house that on the internal, I get an 0x8 error in vitashell. After a reboot, i get the bubbles but they are white (no icon) ... If i force a reindex, bubbles are fixed but are either 12828-1 erroring or wont get past whitelist.

Whats the proper way to free up space in order to install new games ?

After you delete the game from internal storage, refresh livearea from vitashell with the usb mounted as ux0. All your bubbles will come back.

Does anything from internal storage have to be deleted?

Yes, just delete the PSXXXXX folder off of internal storage. Or if you want a cleaner way to do it, delete the game bubble when you have internal storage mounted. Then switch over to the usb and refresh livearea and you'll get the bubble back. Make sure to transfer or backup your game save before you do this.

It's working out pretty well for me. Think of it as hot swapping storage devices when you switch between internal storage and usb. I have it so that my games are split between my memory card and my usb. Occasionally I do get a crash switching back to memory card from usb, but for the most part it's very convenient having double the space I had before.

Well i guess it just depends on the device used. Not sure how big a difference it varies.

Not having any luck. Still getting the the Error 0x80010016 when trying to mount uma0
No my card/flash is not bad, it was properly formatted exFat, I wiped the card and filled with zeros before formatting, have removed/inserted the USB and rebooted multiple times, reinstalled VitaShell, have unsafe homebrew enabled...
So all the boxes are checked. What am I missing here?

Edit: Windoze sucks with formatting.
Even when using a good tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard. After multiple attempts at wiping the card and reformatting, it still failed to work on the PSTV.
Try putting your card in your Android phone. Let it wipe the card and format. Then it will work in the PSTV.

0x8001000D when I'm trying to mount external HDD formatted to exfat (primary partition).
It does have enough of power because it's spinning right and I have Y cable for more power (connected to USB3 port in TV).
Is there any limit of partition size?

EDIT:
Tried different HDD ("factory" external hdd) and it works. There is some kind of problem with my sata->usb converter.

I would like to try this with a 128 Gb USB stick.

Can I just use Vitashell to copy the complete Ux0: contents over to USB stick, and then mount the USB as ux0: will this work?

So umm.... suggestions for proper format tools? I been using the SD formatter from sandisk site over the default windows 7 format option. Not sure how much different it is. But I just wanna make sure i'm doing it right. I hope somehow a homebrew to help format the usb drive is made, that be nice if it was included in the vitashell. I wanted to try the system vita format after mounting but it doesn't let me do it. Always say "INTERNAL StORAGE" So i just canceled

h2testw.exe for windows is great takes a while. After you install it just click english bc it defaults in Deutch. Find your volume. SD card, or USB stick check all available space (default) if thats to your liking. Then click Write + Verify. Idk what endless verify is, but seems endless and wasnt in the instructions for my using of the program.

Is more of a stress test to just constantly "Abuse" the device by constantly performing test on in until user stops it forcing it. Usually you wouldn't use that unless you want a perfect accurate scan of the thing.
