What's the issue? The person playing doesn't get to the actual game portion of it (when you have three heroes) quick enough, but otherwise it looks like all the other footage of it I've seen. Doesn't seem to be getting the greatest reviews, but the biggest complaint is consistently, "it's too hard." That's not a turn-off for me in a roguelike, sorry. I bought FTL back in 2012, been playing it on and off since then, and still have yet to beat it.

Not gonna cancel my pre-order, in any case. It was $20 off a gift card. Still have $25 on my eShop balance for Snake Pass, too.
I actually hadn't seen any gameplay of it before. At least not that I recall.
I certainly won't be buying this now that I know what it's like.

Everybody saying this looks like a flash game.

How are you making that conclusion from watching a couple of minutes of the prologue of the game.

You need to watch a video of gameplay 2 or so hours after the prologue of any game to get a good sense of it.

Although this is not my style of game, neither is Isaac which btw looks basic and lame at the beginning, it does seem to have way more content later on. Like Isaac.

These comments are just silly.

They had a good thirty minutes of gameplay on Nintendo Treehouse the day after the presentation. That was definitely a much better demonstration of the game than this video.

Of course, roguelikes aren't everybody's cup of tea, and that's fine. I enjoy them in all the different flavors they come in.

I saw it at the treehouse presentation. Did not understand the excitement.

when most people are starved for games because of a super weak launch line-up even a light-bulb tightening game would look interesting.

not to mention 70-80% indie games are trash

Nah, I think these titles would only be called "Roguelites" at their best. Honestly, if you took the what made Rogue, well, Rogue, and compared it to the concept of something that prides itself on being a Roguelike such as Rogue Legacy...well, let's just say fans of Rogue would be scratching their heads wondering how it even came close to the fundamentals.

Not that I'm saying these titles are better or worse for the being Roguelike or otherwise, but to stay on topic, I don't think this title could be considered anything close to Rogue-like/lite/whathaveyou. It just seems procedurally generated, and a lot closer to a mobile game's repetitive style than a Rogue title's.

And if that's all it takes for people to call a game Rogue anything...oh boy.
Roguelike generally denotes "procedurally generated dungeons and items and permadeath." It's a reference to the mechanics, not the actual gameplay or experience.

That's subjective opinion, and IMO a pretty shitty opinion at that. There are way more fantastic indies on Steam than AAAs.
Well you know what they say about opinions, they are like assholes, everybody has one and they are all full of shit.

Opinions are facts on the Temp. I sometimes wonder why I even bother here. I only ever created an account to get in contact with one of the members.

The only reason to suggest there are more worthwhile AAAs out there is if you're a graphics whore. The Mass Effect trilogy couldn't do choice with consequence properly at all, then Undertale comes along and does it perfectly on like one millionth of the budget.

I mean, I play on a 4K gaming PC, but facts are facts. There are way more worthwhile indies out there. A worthwhile AAA only comes out every few months at best.

I first joined for 3DS homebrew, thought this was a technically minded board. Turns out it's just a haven for trolls and plebs.

Every forum eventually turns to shit I guess. Unless you are paying moderators and have screened posts.

It's tough to walk the line between suppressing opinions and taking out the garbage when a community grows as large as this one, I think.

It's entirely on a game-by-game basis, there absolutely are some masterpieces out there regardless of being indie or AAA. A game does not have to be 100% unique or innovative to be a masterpiece, either.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Too bad this game isn't multiplayer, they should have made it multiplayer, one person per lane.
Well, you have to choose which lane to send a hero to after each attack, and that's pretty important. Plus managing just one hero each would be pretty boring.

this is basicaly a ported smartphone game.
Are people gonna be saying this about every indie released on Switch? It's not F2P MTX garbage, so it's nothing like a smartphone game. Plus it's crossplat with PS4 and XB1, so unless those consoles are in the business of routinely receiving smartphone ports, you're way off base.
