Hardware Newbie user (hope so) and his questions

Hello to all, i want to apologize at first, if my topic title or its content does not belong here..

I am an old MHF player back from psp times, and had a dream about playing it online, somehow. Back in those days, Frontier was closed to Europe (i do not know if its still) and the only way to play it online was via that short distance opportunity in psp.

I will be in America for couple weeks due to presentation in one of the conferences, and want to buy 3ds XL for myself. I do not know much about region lock... To be more precise, i do not know anything about console itself, and here i have couple of questions for you guys to answer, if possible.

First of all, i have plan to buy 3ds XL (might be MHF edition) from America, and will get the game from there too. Will i suffer from any problem when i got back to europe ?? Anything like unable to play with PAL friends online or laggy situations etc.

Second, can i only use games from US market ?

You can assume i am an addicted hunter and will probably won't play anything other then MHF (like having whole xbox for Halo) in console, if it will help answering the questions.

Buy a New 3DS XL not the old one since MH games generally play better on it and make sure it's not on the latest update so you can get cfw(custom firmware, much like psp cfw).
When I say much like PSP CFW I mean as in no signature checks and no region lock.
If you do get a N3DS XL that is NOT on the latest update then you can play your own "backups"

So there are new and old 3ds XL right ? Like fat and slim or 3000s psp ? And i have to buy something new without the latest updates on ? Can you pass me some link for it etc ?

And one more question, should i have to add any cfw to play MH in my XL ?

Yes exactly like the fat and slim where the slim had more ram, just like how the "New 3DS XL" has more power and is literally called the "New 3DS XL", likely you'll have to buy it second hand from somewhere online like Ebay unless they don't ship the latest units with update 11.3(since I don't know about that).
If you get CFW on a 3DS it enables you to play game backups(even if you don't own them) and do many more things, just search "Luma 3DS" on youtube and you'll undertsand.

Thank you for reply, it was really helpfull one. I will check luma from youtube now but still one minor problem remains about my concerns;

Can i play with my PAL friend by using my US 3ds xl, without any problem or laggy situation ?? Have you ever experienced something like that ?? Or anyone other ??

That I don't exactly know you'll have to search around the internet, give me about 5 minutes of research time.

Edit: From what I can think of if you do get CFW on your 3DS just use a USA copy of the game to local play.

I couldn't find anything about multiplayer disadvantages of region lock, like no one ever tried of it to begin with lol.

I think this is true:
If you have a 3DS with CFW you can play games from ANY region.
Only if your game is the same region as your friends game then you can do local play else it's a no no.
