Hardware Battery and internal memory upgrades

Hi. Can anyone recommend a larger capacity battery for the nintendo switch? I know that there may not be one available on the market right now directly from Nintendo, but I'm thinking third party. Of course it's possible to switch out the internal battery with a larger capacity one because it's just a battery after all. Could anyone recommend one? I know that in order for it to be all snug it should be roughly the same dimensions but I don't mind a physically smaller one that has a larger capacity?

I also know that Nintendo placed the internal memory on a separate PCb that is connected to the main board with a ribbon cable. Because they spent the extra money on making it this way it's very likely well see an upgraded switch with the larger capacity internal memory. Last I check the flash memory data sheet is open to the public and it's made by phillips? Can I just buy the larger one from phillips and copy the smaller one to the larger one some how? I'm sure that with the data sheet and all being open to the public it's possible. We may even be able to call up Phillips technical support and ask them for assistance. I know there is micro sd card support but that's slower read and write so I want to upgrade the internal memory if possible.

Thanks on any help anyone here can provide on any of these issues.

I think you might be asking questions nobody has answers to yet. You could disassemble your switch and experiment yourself, if you do be sure to keep us posted!

You are asking for things we don't even have yet. We would need some third party to sell replacement/upgrade parts, as well as a way to copy data from one eMMC chip to the other. If you think those are going to be already available only 3 weeks after launch you are insane

Regarding the battery:
If you put more energy in one spot then another, the energy will move until both spots are the same. We take advantage of this to create electricity.
That said, if you pack too much energy in, it really wants to get out, and will do so. We call this fire.

It appears that Nintendo has already included the biggest capacity battery they safely can.

You can't simply buy a new eMMC chip and expect it to work on the Switch. For one thing, eMMC chips are sold as bare units; they have to be soldered to a PCB. (While the Switch's eMMC is removable, it's still soldered to a custom PCB.

Secondly, each eMMC chip has a unique serial number (CID). On 3DS, the CID is used as part of the encryption key, so it wouldn't be surprising if Switch does this, too. This means that even if you do a full block-level copy, it still won't work. Even if it did work for some strange reason, the partition table would still be set up for 32 GB, and assuming it's like the 3DS, the partition table is signed, which makes it impossible to change.

Im not So sure I agree that an increase in mAn would cause a fire. Why do u think that? As long as it's same voltage and max current out it should have no problems

It doesn't matter if you agree, it's well known fact that [for lithium-based] batteries, packing in too much energy density causes them to be very volatile and likely catch fire.

Are you referring to LiCoO2, LiMn2O4, LiMn2O4, LiFePO4, LiNiMnCoO2 or LiNiCoAlO2? With or without protection circuitry? Cobalt-based system or Spinel? Using typical 1C discharge or more?

I mean typically the industry has been making gains of 8-10% a year and this trend is expected to continue.

Do you even know why they use Li?

Batteries such as LiCoO2, which can explode if current draw is excessive or damaged.

Do you understand the fundamentals of a chemical reaction?

Batteries are not "likely to catch fire" unless you abuse them, damage them or draw to much current creating heat. They typically do not spontaneously combust unless they are vented.

I do not understand what you are trying to say? Can you elaborate more?

I think size of the battery is quite likely given that it takes up most the space in a kid's device.

And, it seems to me that when phone manufacturers install too large of a battery, those phone's have a tendency to catch fire when dropped/banged.

Also, airplane batteries had this issue.

I see... I wrongly assumed you had some sort of background in chemistry and battery technology as I do.

I believe the incidents you are referring to were caused by manufacturing defects in roughly less than 0.01 percent of those batteries. People just blow it out of proportion because all you see on the news is that 0.01 percent. It was not due to the "size".

Similarly to the Nintendo Switch, all you see reports on are the defective units which is miniscule compared to the amount of units that work flawlessly.

Please don't make ridiculous blanket statements like that.

I don't see Tesla Lithium Ion batteries exploding. Look at the size of them.

The same ones that are used in some vaporizers. Except the only ones you hear about are the ones made in china that are defective and vent in people's pockets.

Your right it doesn't matter if I agree. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. But how do u calculate how much mah you can fit into a volume of X before it explodes? I never heard of such a property. Maybe something new to learn. And how does switch battery just barley under it?
