I prefer holding the wii u gamepad over holding the switch in handheld mode. The wii u gamepad is much more lightweight, the buttons were nice and big, the shoulder buttons were spaced very comfortably, had a nice grip too. I was playing splatoom 2 the other day and how close the shoulder buttons were on the joycons was really uncomfortable and it was hard playing it vertically bc it doesnt have that molded grip that allows you to hold it well since its just flat on the back unlike the gamepad. Anyways back on topic yeah I also agree they shouldve kept in the wii u gamepad functionality, it was already implemented and since it was being developed for the switch too they could've added in the control options that dont require the two screens without having to completely ditching gamepad controls and allowing users to switch between them on the wii u version, theres nothing wrong with more control styles, just makes people more happy to choose to use whichever one they feel more comfortable with. I liked it in windwaker hd, it had the gamepad inventory thing and if you pressed pause it paused the game while still allowinh you to have time to move around your inventory and it also allowed you to not have to pause to use the inventory if you didnt want to pause. Touch screen controls in inventory management are always more intuitive and user friendly for me, I wouldve loved for them to keep it in the wii u version.
