I've had a Hyrule n3DS XL with a broken B button for quite some time. I sent it in last November right before the 1 year warranty expired, bringing my warranty back up to 3 months. Sent it in again in December because the circle pad came back scratched.
Now the B button is failing again, and I'm on my last month before the warranty dries up. However, I installed cfw right after receiving it back from the second repair. If anybody has any experiences to share about sending it in with cfw, is it okay? Any precautions to take use, such as using the Kecleon patch? Or should I just do a fresh uninstall of a9lh and reset, transferring my current progress to another n3DS before sending it in again?

I kinda want to just remove everything suspicious and keep a9lh on the system (since 11.3 exists), but if the repair center actively checks that, I'll just do a full uninstall.
Thanks!

DONT uninstall a9lh, because they update it for you.
but if im not mistaken, they wont even bother working on it if they see it has cfw, so the kecleon patch should be the way to go.

basically remove all hack-looking elements :P

worst comes to worst though, theyll just refuse to replace your b button

Yeah the Kecleon patch didn't work in my case and they just sent it back to me without doing anything.

Although not a large enough sample size, this is some good proof that I should just uninstall and deal with 11.3 if it happens. Thanks you two for the response!

Before uninstalling, back up your nand. This will allow you to still do a hard-mod downgrade from that nand backup.

For sure. Thanks for the reminder!

If you don't have hardmod skills like me you can do this (I did!):
1) Get a NAND backup and uninstall A9LH
2) Send for repair
3) Get 2DS (I used eBay)
4) Hack 2DS
5) Receive fixed unit
6) Use DsiWareHax to reflash NAND backup
7) Sell 2DS

Profit!

Quick question, sorry for the bump. How exactly would you be able to use dsiwarehax on 11.3?

DsiWarehax still has NAND access on 11.3, the issue is that it's currently useless due to NFIRM check that Nintendo implemented in 11.3.

The only way to install CFW from 11.3 is to already have a NAND backup with either CFW or <11.2.

My post was for user to do NAND backup, uninstall A9LH, send for repair, then reflash backup if the motherboard did not change.

In short currently DsiWarehax for 11.3 only provides ability to dump/flash NAND.

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.

i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
