I was playing a game on my Xbox 360, when suddenly, my wired controller stopped working, the lights on the "X" went off and i cant press any buttons to continue. I tried many times to reconnect it, but every time i do, the 1st and 4th light flash for a split second and nothing happens. When i connect the controller on my PC however, it works perfectly fine and i can play games with it and what not. But plugging it in on my Xbox 360 does nothing.

What am i gonna do to fix this?

Have you tried all USB ports?
Is it MS or 3rd party?
Do you have access to another controller to test out with?
What dash are you on?

I tried the front ones
Its the official wired Xbox controller
and no, i own no other controller
Sounds like it shorted out in the 360 somehow.
Have you tried other USB devices?
I will try

You can try the back USB port and if you're able, try it on another 360.
if that fails then it's likely the controller.

@sodaddict

You might want to look into doing a cache flush. I think you have to press the 'open tray' button and 'SYNC' button at the same time, then keep clicking the 'SYNC' button until the lights on the system go around three times, I believe. Try googling '360 system button combo for cache fush' and you should find something.

Clearing cache only deletes every downloaded Title update that's stored on the HDD's cache folder.
If you want to clear the RAM completely etc, you'll need to leave it unplugged for a short while so all the electricity that remains in the caps gets drained out.

I think there are multiple operations you can do, based on the position of the rings, but I do know when a controller won't work with X360, SYNC+tray combo usually works, even for certain errors. That's why I said, 'google.'

Sync + tray is mostly used to identify what RROD code it has (if it can't display anything)

I'd wager it's a hardware issue. Do any other wired controllers or USB devices work at all? I was going to say the wire of the controller is just shorting but if it's not connecting whatsoever and works on your PC I'm inclined to think it's not that.

UPDATE: It turns out the game i've been playing has a bug that glitches the controllers. As of now the controller is working fine, but as for the game, im not sure.
Interesting! You should go ahead and leave the game title here for others to refer to if they come into a similar situation.
