Confirmed Nintendo Switch is using stock Nvidia Tegra X1, no modifications.

All is confirmed the Nintendo Switch is powered by stock Nvidia Tegra X1, same chipset used in Shield TV. The most surprising is the retention of 4 Cortex A53 processor cores, which have no use in the Nintendo switch as they can't be operated at the same time when Cortex A57 cores are running due to the ARM big.little configuration setup.

After subsequent processing of the GPU from the Nintendo Switch, we have determined that the processor is the Nvidia Tegra T210. The T210 CPU features 4 Cortex A57 and 4 Cortex A53 processor cores and the GPU is a GM20B Maxell core.

http://techinsights.com/about-techinsights/overview/blog/nintendo-switch-teardown/

Nvidia Tegra X1 features
  • 8 core CPU (4 x Cortex A57 and 4 x Cortex A53)
  • GPU is a GM20B Maxell core

A comparison to Shield TV. Switch specs on the left, and Shield TV on the right. The clock speeds are reported from Eurogamer, which are very much true.

  • RAM: 4GB vs 3GB
  • CPU: 1Ghz vs. 2Ghz
  • GPU: 3 modes:307.2Mhz/384Mhz/768Mhz vs 1Ghz

Shield TV is clocked higher initially in both CPU and GPU, but don't forget Shield TV can't keep these clock speeds up for long, it throttles down to the exact switch's dock clockspeeds. Which further supports a stock X1.

All the more reason to buy a WiiU! ;)
I think I play GC games on my WiiU more than I play the actual WiiU games.
Playing GC on the WiiU is awesome, I just did a run through of original WW. I'm normally amazed when I think about that I can play NES, SNES, N64, GC, DS, Wii, and WiiU games on one console, pretty awesome, easily worth the WiiU purchase.

But still there is some disappointment because we can't bring the WiiU in all the places we can the Switch, which was the entire sell of the console.

Then wii u will remain as the ultimate legacy system.

Here's a comparison between OpenGL vs Vulkan on the Shield TV using dolphin, this leads me to believe that the switch is more than capable of runing a gamecube emulator made by nintendo, even more considering the fact that the switch isn't being held back by android like the Shield TV.

Also, the internal res that is in the video on dolphin is 1920x1584, I believe that toning it down to 1080p (1920x1080) or 720p (1280 x 720) will cause greater perfomance.

That's impressive. It runs very smooth after he changes some settings at ~2:25, and I can't get much more than 1080p internal res even out of my gaming PC on Dolphin.

Good news. Maybe?

What did NVIDIA really do here, then?[/SIZE]
It might seem as though NVIDIA just decided to sell Nintendo Tegra X1 chips that it had already designed, but that's almost certainly far from the truth. In NVIDIA's blog post talking up its spot inside of the Nintendo Switch, the company said the following:

The Nintendo Switch's gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses.

NVIDIA also goes on to explain that it has "optimized the full suite of hardware and software for gaming and mobile use cases," citing "custom operating system integration with the [graphics processing unit] to increase both performance and efficiency."

In other words, although NVIDIA didn't seem to do much on the physical chip side of things in support of this design win, it appears to have done much of the heavy lifting on the software side of things.

Umm well i haven't used dophin on my pc since is kinda unable to be used. The fan has issues being consistent so i can't use it for playing games like i want. It is out dated and i been meaning to get it repaired or just replaced. But for the record it sucks in today standards. Intel I7 quad duo 8 Seperate cores Radeon HD graphics, (Which is rendered useless by the intel HD driver) 8GB ram and i dunno if anything else worth mentioning if is just related to dolphin.
Model numbers etc?

This is a great on the Wii u, you can play perfectly Wii, Wii u and gamecube games there are not emulators compared to the original hardware, for me the 3ds shares the same with gba, Ds, dsi and 3ds games, they run natively

It's a giant vita with more power with detachable sides that can be attached onto something else to simulate a controller and also it can be plugged into a TV and also have a large number of (expensive) accessories and hopefully a plethora of first party games.

Spec-wise, you can compare it to the shield tv. As a whole, there's really nothing like it.

Well if it makes you feel any better, it's because you were wrong. As has already been discussed in this thread, K1 is what's inside the Shield tablet, and the X1 inside Shield TV and Switch is nearly twice as strong.

Twise as strong as the shield tv? According to op, the switch only has 1 extra gb of ram, the cpu and gpu are clocked lower than the shield tv to ensure consistency...
