I have nothing against bomberman to be clear. Anyway, so we download this test fire thing and we play online when at a specified time? Do we get to play with friends or is it always strangers? Cause then i would like to collect some friends to my list to try it with a safe practice arena and not people out to kill with no way to learn how to play.

Determine what day the eshop content is updated in your area and then wait for that day. Here in USA is every thursday at 9AM on PT
Here in EU there is no DL but when i go to my US account, well i have it on now ^^
It has been a couple of years but I believe they had a short intro section you could play before selecting to be dumped in an arena. Splatoon is a lot like BotW, you die a lot, get used to it.
