Hacking Japanese Animal Crossing Won't Start on USA 3DS

As the title says, I downloaded a Japanese copy of ACNL using FreeShop, but it when I try to launch it (ACNL) it crashes the console. My setup is Luma5.5 o3DS 11.0 sysNAND a9lh.
My settings for Luma are:
-Autoboot sysNAND
-SysNAND is updated
-Force A9LH detection
-enable region/language emulation
-show current nand in System Settings
-show GBA boot screen in patched AGB_firm
-enable splash screen with no screen init

Do Japanese games not work in USA consoles? Is it a bad install? Do I need to tweak some settings? I'm able to play European games just fine on my 3DS, so I'm not sure if I can play JAP titles...

Try launching through hans. I think it's a language file issue.

Is it possible to permanently patch this so I don't have to launch Hans every time?

I did this:

Enable region/language emulation: Enables the region/language emulation feature. This allows some games which need a specific language to be set to work, and DLCs for foreign games to load.
- To use it:
- For example, to play Pokémon™ Y in Japanese language and region:

Create a folder named locales inside luma/

Create a .txt file with game's title id as the name (look them up on www.3dsdb.com).

Inside the file,

Put 3 characters for the region ("JPN", "USA", "EUR", "AUS", "CHN", "KOR", "TWN")

Put an empty space

Put 2 characters for the language ("JP", "EN", "FR", "DE", "IT", "ES", "ZH", "KO", "NL", "PT", "RU", "TW").

For example, to play Pokémon™ Y in Japanese language and region:

Create 0004000000055E00.txt

Put in JPN JP

Save

Do you know where I could get the 1.1 update data?

I thought Luma automatically patched region emulation, but I guess not

. As for the 1.1 update, it's obviously going to be found on 'that iso site' just dig and you'll find it. I think there might be a thread hosting all DLC and update data.

If you really want, I can give you a shortcut to it for Hans.
I made it like, 4 months ago because I install a lot of nes games.

Hello, is there a fix for Reinand? I used to use NTR CFW but it's no longer supported

reinand is really outdated

would recommend you to update to Luma3DS it's the successor to reinand. you can still use NTR CFW with luma on latest FW.

I have a small problem. I looked all over the internet for the title ID (including the website you linked) and the japanese id is nowhere to be found. Any help?

You didn't look hard enough.

Title ID for regular JP ACNL: 0004000000086200
Title ID for JP ACNL amiibo+: 0004000000198D00
