The Wii U version will have low textures and it will be streamloading things in. So expect loads of pop-in. The Wii U also use optical media (or well mechnical for most I guess?) so expect even more pop-ins.

EDIT: Wii U also have less RAM to play with than the Switch. So that's also a negative.

I tried out Breath of the Wild on the Wii U now and something seems really off about it.
The textures are extremely blurry and the Aliasing is horrible.
What is going on here?

Playing on the game pad makes it look OK but yes, I started playing it on the TV with the pro controller and something just looks off about it. There is no way that this version looks that worse right? If so when I get my copy on Friday it better not run like this.

So some people agree it looks like the videos of the wii u version posted before this. Or everyone thinks it looks way worse?

It CAN look like the trailers and previews, if you have a TV that can soften the image and use lots of post-processing to make it look good.
I can confirm this myself, because i have been playing around with the settings on my tv.
There are however things you can not hide by using expensive TVs and that is the draw distance and the foliage distance.
This was significantly better in any and all videos i have seen before this leak.
Compare these videos to your own experience by looking at an object in a distance as well as the ground between you and the object. Now run towards it.
The textures will begin to pop in violently and the framerate begins to drop instantly.
Some places are worse than others.

I do not want to spoil anything, so i will do this in a subtle manner.
Someone, at some point, will ask to meet you at a place where two "lines" intersect.
Enter that place and look at the particle effects there.
The framerate will crash.

I think that the patch we have is not, yet the patch that will be released on release-day.
Even tho we are using a patch we are still at version 1.0.0, so i don't think this is actually the intended final release.

I think you're exaggerating.. game looks good. I love it.

But like you said, Kakariko Village is the worst as of now for me... impossible to be there, I cant stand it the frame rate in there goes crazy, runs like crap. Disappointing for a game made in Nintendo.

WW is not even the size of the Great Platoe or whatever the name is xDDD
Plateau.
The view distance just really irks me.
Everything at a distance looks really ugly.
If you design a game where you can see far into the distance, you better make it so the distance doesn't look washed out and lacking of all detail.

But then again, this may be a moot point if we get another patch by release.

I know, it looks awful not like XCX or anything else... from very far looks bad, I don't know if they can fix that... maybe in Switch 2

You know what I hate? that they killed the Wii U version, it was supposed to have the inventory and the map right on the gamepad... they took that out in order to make the Switch version not to look inferior.. e.e I hate Aonuma.

While i couldn't care less about the stupid gamepad (oh yeah, i went there!) i do believe that the Wii U version received less attention because they needed a Main-IP title for the weak Switch-release.
I mean... the Switch lineup is still garbage, with only one Port keeping it alive, but this is what Nintendo does.
They did the same thing with Twilight Princess, so why am i surprised?

Thank God I wasn't around for that... (I mean I didn't have internet or anything like that) is not that the Wii U received less attention, they took the features out. Because they confirmed them before Switch announcement, and the poof, like magic they are gone.

Well, nothing we can do but complain, grumble... and then play it anyway! ; )

I had a feeling that the game might not look as good as the gameplay we saw suggested. And that's sort of okay I guess, it's Nintendo afterall.

Framerate however is another thing. If it doesnt look good AND it runs bad, thats some red flags for me. 30fps instead of 60, oh well, I can live with that if its handled well. but frame drops in cities and the open world?!....If that's really true, we should go gather funds for cemu development so we can someday enjoy this game how it was meant to be enjoyed..I took a look at whats possible with skyward sword on pc now a few weeks ago and the difference in image quality is astounding. It looks better than the screenshots in here from botw :(

Hey fucktards this isn't a thread for your fanboi switch bullshit of why you think one should, will or whatever look better. If you fuckbois had your way they would of canceled the Wii-U version just so you could feel the love your daddy didn't give you while you circle jerk with other losers at a midnight release or Link would be wearing dunce cap in the Wii-U version because it's the only way you failures feel self worth besides an anonymous facial.

This is about the OP wondering if the textures got down-scaled/compressed in the leak. IMO the game looks great, but everything seems a bit more jaggie than it should even being a Wii-U version, of course I been playing WWHD on my PC in 4K as a warm up...

But yes, something seems off but not enough I'd complain if it stayed that way.

You REALLY though that the WiiU version would have a flawless-noLoadingScreensBetweensAreas and be filled with a shitload of stuff without compromises ? It barrely handle normal games at 720p guys... Xenoblade X is empty as fuck compared to BOTW, like... a big desert.... so much vegetation, enemies poping ect ect, and its the same map size as XCX roughly, so, WTF ?
And the game is not THAT bad... but there is something i agree, game look "less appealing" on T, tried it on a 24" pc monitor, A LOT more gorgeous...
Some areas drop at 15-20fps when wide in the open, very ponctual at last, the draw distance for a game that big on a WiiU is INCREDIBLE guys you can see up to 150km, there is no "big fog" compromising it,
you don't see the efforts they made to make it huge on such a "not build for" console...
Even GTA V is not that good on PS3, BOTW coulnt run on a ps3 with the same caracterstics, impossible, it can't handle such drawing distance with such close distance details and for a map that big... remember the PS3, gta v trash version on a 80km²... now picture BOTW and its 350km² map.

Can you quote anyone saying any of that? No.

This is about people having noticeable texture issues versus what they seen in known WiiU videos.

No. I think that trailers and previews should be representative for the final product.
In this case they are not. The game looks far worse than any footage shown so far.
There was a significant visual downgrade and the performance is still bad.
THAT is what i am saying.

IMO I think the games doing some unusual on the fly caching, either my eyes adjusted or the textures improved after the first half hour. But quite a few objects seemed out of place and jaggie. You're not hallucinating.
