I have been trying to figure this out for awhile now and I have been getting frustrated.
Recently my disk drive finally died out on my Wii (rip forever missed) So I went ahead and made a Wii WBFS File. Where I got it, or how I made it isn't important but my main question is actually adding it onto the Wii.

I added the WBFS File (Mario party 8) into (root hdd) ->wbfs
and manully created the file it was called "Mario Party 8 [RME801]" and added the same file that's supposed to go in there. I checked if it would work on USB device and it couldn't recognize it, it had a ? icon and when I played it, it would bring me back to the wii menu.

Does anyone know how to properly add a wbfs manually on a pc?
Also incase you were wondering, I tried wbfs manager, had an issue saying I couldn't format it, follow a tutorial, delete my volume & set it to RAW partition, but I couldn't acsess the drive anymore.

I also wanted to try doing it with NTFS & exFAT but those two are not compatible with USB Loader GX.

Use Wii Backup Manager to transfer the game to the HDD, it will take care of converting the file to .wbfs if needed and moving it to the right location.

I figured it out and got it to work with WBFS Manager now, but now I can't use it for GC Games.

I actually tried Wii Backup Manager but I couldn't figure out how to make it automatically create the file (like the Mario Party 8 [add codename]) I can make a wbfs file with it perfectly but the problem I have is when I add the files manually onto the HDD they don't work.

Gamecube games require FAT32. WBFS Manager only supports WBFS partitions and it also corrupts games.

How does it corrupt games? I added a game in and it works just fine

My main concern now is figuring out if there is an alternative way to have both Gamecube games and Wii on one hard drive. I have tried using Wii Backup Manager to manually make a game a .iso to a .wbfs file. But this is where I have the problem

When I tried dropping the files in they are supposed to be in the wbfs folder, but when I add them in it does not work and the hard drive can't recognize it.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I just place the wbfs file in the wbfs folder or do I add a folder then add the wbfs file.

For instance do I go into the wbfs folder on the root of my hard drive and add the folder it's supposed to be named and inside that folder I add the WBFS

or do I just add the WBFS game file inside the wbfs folder, go into USB Loader and it will be recognized?

WBFS Manager doesn't read existing games on the disc properly and creates a free block map that includes already-used blocks so when it writes a new title to the drive it has a good chance of overwriting blocks from another game and creating two cross-linked ones.

Wii Backup Manager shouldn't require you taking any extra steps.
Make sure you have WBFS Split Style set to 4GB under Options>Settings>FAT32/NTFS, then just point either Drive 1 or Drive 2 to your FAT32 drive and use the Files tab to load your ISOs. Then select the ones you want to copy and click Transfer>Drive 1 (or 2).

Both Wii and GC games should follow the same naming convention:

GC: "/games/Game Title [TitleID]/game.iso", "/games/Game Title [TitleID]/disc2.iso" for second disc of two-volume games.
Wii: "/wbfs/Game Title [TitleID]/TitleID.wbfs", "/wbfs/Game Title [TitleID]/TitleID.wbf1" if it exists due to the game being >4GB.

Loaders expect each title to be in its own folder.

Thank you. You will be reported soon enough to the proper authorities for talking down to me inerpropriately. Thank you for breaking da rules of GBATemp.

Also idk if "inerpropriately" is spelled incorrectly so ignore it if you thought it meant something.

YES PLEAAE LISTEN...

I gave that up a long time ago and moved on. It was the first time I actually hacked into something and thought I was smart. Of course 90% of the posts I made were sheer i'm going to quote "customer service posts" and most being incorrect, I did it becuase I thought it was fun and I was actually helping people not screwing with their day, I didn't know talking about electronics 7 days straight with incorrect info I thought was correct would make someone pissed off. I was narrow minded, and now I know from excperience that it was fucked.

I'm going to leave it up to you what you think, let's just move on please.

Wolf I was going to reply back to see if that would work or not, I haven't gotten back because school has been stressful these last few weeks. Don't take my silence the wrong way.

Also I accidentally posted this while I was typing half way through. So I didn't get the chance to fully complete my thoughts.

Finally got the chance to hop on my PC and see what would happen.

WBFS Manager doesn't read existing games on the disc properly and creates a free block map that includes already-used blocks so when it writes a new title to the drive it has a good chance of overwriting blocks from another game and creating two cross-linked ones.

Oh, well I'm glad I only put one game in there then. Thanks for the heads up,

Got it set up, and it works perfectly. Took me awhile to figure out how to navigate in the menu but other than that Wii games save just fine on the drive & GameCube games now.
Thanks :D

Yep its working out fine with transferring.

But I discovered something else that was weirder, when I go ahead and add a iso file, it stops all progress when at 100%, WBFS files seem to work fine and I tried another converter, which didn't work out.
Any solutions?

Hmm. Sometimes it takes WBM a bit to finish because it's going through the parts of the ISO that don't contain any actual data. The only game I know it has problems with is SSBB and the game still works, it just corrupts the WiiWare demo partition. You could try Wiimm's ISO Tools if you're having problems with WBM.

It looks pretty complicated for Windows. I will just stick with wbfs files then and just avoid iso files completely.

I'm having another issue when I load up USB Loader now it can't recognize my HDD at all, I have tried plugging it in & out, plugging it on before I turned on the Wii, tried multiple ports, it doesn't like me for some reason.
Could it be an issue with WBFS Format? I think I know the answer to the problem, I need to completely format the drive with something like Parasonic formatter (idk why the post I made got all werid.) but I can't find anything for USB Devices to do a full format :( are there any similar tools?

Let me write up something on it. Ping me tomorrow if I haven't replied, I probably just forgot.

Using diskpart on Windows and Ridgecrop's FAT32 formatter are the best way to wipe and initialize the drive but it's very easy to kill your Windows drives with diskpart so I want to make sure I get the directions right.

Actually I realized the problem was I was missing the config file for USB Loader GX.

I looked in my previous backup of my HDD before I used wbfs or Wii Backup Loader. So now the drive is being recognized :P.

Thanks for the help :D
also idk why, but the post I made earlier got all werid like it wasn't even english grammar.
