I run a9lh+luma. Is enabling Clock+L2 in the luma menu the correct way to get n3DS performance in retroarch? Because personally, that PS1 core is completely unplayable.

RetroArch activates Clock + L2 itself.

What games are you trying?

Recently on 1.3.6 I've played:
Jarinko Chie: The Hanafuda, 54fps
Ridge Racer, 45fps

Muting sound in the RetroArch menu adds 5fps to pretty much any game.

Performance varies by game.

I'm yet to try the "new" unofficial build.

While I'm at it, what does this mean and why does it always happen when I try to open a ROM with gpsp? I have the BIOS correctly installed. I've tried several builds of retroarch, they all produce this. I got it to work once a couple days ago, but then I tried to update retroarch and the problem returned.

It can't launch correctly, usually due to lack of available RAM.

Are you running the 3dsx files? If so you need to provide extra configuration to have the emulators run disguised as other apps, like YouTube.

It's easier to just install the CIAs that don't suffer from this.

Thanks, the cia version does indeed work.
I'm curious though, is retroarch_3ds.cia supposed to crash with the message "The SD Card was removed"? Only the individual core cias work.

That one is a launcher, just menu no emulator, it'll launch the last core you played. But you need to play a core before it'll work. If it still doesn't you'll need to trash your cfg.

Its easy to get gpsp to crash. its called playing the same non-working game over and over again. I only use it for pokemon emerald and for other things I use Virtual Console .cia files.

but the game is working. its running for a minute or two and then crashes at rather random moments

of course, this "amazing pcsx performance" is restricted to N3ds, right?

It shouldn't come as a surprise retroarch runs way better on a New3DS, especially with the more demanding cores like pcsx or cps3.
I still was surprised about the results i've got with games like 'Moto Racer', it ran over 100fps without audio sync and vsync enabled.

You might want to take a look at the results i've got so far and try the faster running games. Of course sharing your results ;)

I tried pcsx rearmed with the cia launcher, and performance increased 3 fold. FF7 is actually 60fps, how crazy is this. Why would the retroarch team drop this project? It's got mad potential.

There's a mistake in the code which is stopping the automatic build bot from generating the CIA. Sadly we have to wait for RetroArch team to fix it.

What's the best version of RetroArch to use right now?
I'm on 1.3

How do we get this if it's not available from the buildbot?

Thanks :)

how do i set up shaders?

Also is there a best settings thread? Because i hope ppl put their nes res to 256 x 224 and turn off bilinear filtering. Then just adjust to game screen to be centered and it looks flawless.

I have been trying to get the DosBox core working on my 2DS. When I launch the DosBox cia, it just hangs at the 3DS screen. I copied the retroarch folder to the root of the SD card, and installed the DosBox and retroarch cias with FBI. What am I doing wrong?
