Not sure if this is what your talking but I'v made mods to DKCTF by editing and replacing game files in the update data stored to either sys nand or external. But just basic stuff like moon jump and Invincibility, for permanent codes. Mine still requires sig patches though. its all in my sig.
Well that was the idea. Except for the sig patch stuff. The idea as i stated already is using a file browser homebrew system like FTPIIU everywhere to replace the files installed on the system with mods so the game loads mods without any need of homebrew.

If for some reason you have mods for super smash bros, the idea would be to use sdcafiine to load them as it simply reads the files on sd card instead of default location. If we just injected the mod files into the default location, then the game would load them naturally instead of needing homebrew, or sd card. End game. When you turn on system, insert game and start playing, mods are always there. If there was a file browser homebrew Like FTPIIU everywhere, instead doesn't use ftp but just can manage files with SD/USB then that what i was asking about.

Someone already mentioned using wup download helper to solve this, by using it to unpack a game into loadiine format. (Which is how is installed on the system) applying patches and then repacking it (Into install format) Then using the wup installer homebrew to install the game (That you had modded) and thus obtaining the goal. But with that, i noticed a few problems.

  1. You need to get the game files first, either using your own game disc with homebrew disc2app to get the data (Require SD card with 25GB available.)
  2. The process is just as long. (Get game data, depends on game, unpack data, depends on game, repack data, depends on game, install data, depends on game) Again, depends on game, with games up to 25GB size it is LONG.
  3. The idea is to inject the data for mod files, not install a game. That is why i have the disc, so i am not using space on storage.
While FTP isn't the best situation for copying files cause of the slow transfer speeds, this process seem just as long, but it would be as simple as well since the files is on the system already setup, you just need to replace them. A simple file manager would be enough to do this job, currently only ftpiiu is the one able to do it.

that entirely depends on the speed of your Internet I can download a 25 gb game in about 10 to 15 mins.

So just to ask again, if anyone was planning some file manager system with "ADMIN" like access to system files, cause I was just curious, to think about this, it was just a thought of mine to easily install mods on system or other useful things.

If one is possible, maybe like the wiixplorer would be nice. :)

I'm glad it worked but using ftp those file transfers must have taken a LONG TIME O_O

Especially for large files, if it was easier to just make a file manager that can copy files from SD/USB to where ever, it be much faster. :P
It's kinda slow and a temporary patcher would still be better e.g. loading from the SD card. Not sure how useful SDCafiine is in that case and whether it already works with all games seamlessly.

Well sdcafiine is useful, but is not permanent patch for mods like you showed in the video, which is a useful goal. Yeah, is true that SDcaffine works, but permanent installed patches at all times, instead of loading the kernel exploit before using sdcafiine, just seem a bit easier, unless the cfw like mocha or haxchi can auto load kernel exploit with sdcafiine patches at time of boot. Combine with coldboot is close enough. But the idea of using cafiine to load patches from SD, while the FTP install method is stored on system and always loaded at all times, just bit more convenient.

Before that, i had the process of downloading Tokyo mirage sessions FE, then, extrating it to loadiine format, patching it with the uncensored patch, then repacking it again with another software different than what i used to unpack it with, and install it with WUP installer, to achieve same result, was long and tedious for me but ftp is longer and less work. :P

(The game i used was just a test process, which was successful just too much work for me)

Sure you can use FTPIIIU anywhere to replace game files. I did with success:

Yeah, you can. It works just fine.
You can't exceed 2GB file size afaik or game will not boot.
