it should work ,i have 5 cps2 games in a folder
The limitation might be related to space, not count. Space seems to be a big constraint at the moment... I'm wondering if the tool needs to be revised to somehow put each game in its own system folder (not navigational folder) using a smaller pointer/shortcut some how to launch it...

Its a limitation of actual hakchi2, Cluster is working to can access a way to solved.
The limit is about 30MB of non NES games. If in this space enter 1 game, 5 or 10 it's because the game size.

32X file type is not supported by current version Hakchi2, so you most likely forgot to change command line args for 32X games. Check them, the string should say "/bin/32x <rom path>". In your case it probably says "/bin/path-to-your-app <rom path>"
You can confirm the installation by launching Genesis games from NES shell, then pressing Select+Start. Check the core name at the bottom of the screen. If use_picodrive is installed, it should say "Picodrive" instead of "Genesis Plus GX"
Same with unsupported NES games (should be Nestopia instead of FCEUmm) and SNES games (SNES9x2005 instead of SNES9x2010)

OK, yup, I see what you mean on the 32x. And I verified for Genesis and unsupported NES games. Thanks a bunch for the pointer.

For now, it's not really possible. I'll fix it later by adding /bin/n64g script to mupen64plus to launch N64 games with glupen64

Can I do this manually by modifying the glupen64.hmod with 7zip and simply renaming the n64 in the bin to n64g. Then install that updated hmod and update my command line arguments to call bin/n64g?

Finally, generally, now that I have my games, custom folders with icons and mods loaded. What is the best way for me to make the updates above? For updating issues with game art should I just re-sync games again? For changes to mods do I uninstall the mod, sync, then reinstall updated mod, and sync again? Or is best to Kernel > Uninstall, flash my original kernel, then flash custom kernel and start again fresh?

Yes, but it's already fixed in the latest release :)
mupen64plus installs n64p, use_mupen64plus installs n64 file for mupen64plus and n64g for glupen

For updating anything related to games, just re-sync them. Unless there were major changes (e.g., some files were removed), mods can be updated simply by installing the latest hmod.

Your awesome BTW! Great job on this modification! Now if I could solve my C4 error and play some games :)

If I press a or b gives me error c7.........................................

Hey,

I have about 8 or so FDS games on my system.. 2 of them will give me a C7 error. One randomly gives me a C7 error (at differen't points in the game.. Usually within the first 2 minutes) - The other one, will always give me the C7 error when I press a button to switch to the B side... The other ones work fine when flipping, etc... I think that it depends on the FDS game. Not are currently working.

I hope this helps!

OK, just to make sure I understand this...so if I want to pick up this new release:
1. Delete old retroarch.hmod from user_mods.
2. Download new release and copy the new retroarch.hmod to user_mods.
3. Copy any other new mods I want to user_mods.
4. Select install any replaced or added mods (No need to remove or install or touch any mods I already installed?).
5. Any changes to add/remove/update art or command line for games, simply update in Hachki and sync games again.

Do I have this all right?

I noticed the Game Genie stuff can be a little dicey. Contra gives me a C7 with the infinite lives turned on and a few games have some garbled screens.

So I'll ask jokingly is anyone actually playing games on this system or just too busy adding 1000 plus of them?

I'm asking this as I'm hitting some limitation on the system after playing games and unsure how to proceed. Basically it is throwing me a C4 error when trying to save SNES games. I've done some basic research and determined:

1) I can have 18* saved SNES thumbnails/games (excluding battery backup) across as many folders as I want
2) When limit is reached I can still save games for all other systems! Including well above 20 Genesis games.
3) Limit is not impacted if I remove ROMs
4) State Slot is set to '0' (not sure if this was the default?)
5) Previously opened a lot of games that seem to create .SRAM (not sure how to remove, but I have tons!)
6) Battery Backup Saves (i.e. Final Fantasy) do not seem to impact (at least creating an individual slot, now a brand new game being added might?!?!?)
7) It might be unrelated, but I noticed (after a recent transfer) that one of the last games (when sorted by folder view on the PC) had the broken image thumbnail instead of a screenshot for a save state. I've also noticed that although Hakchi reports a successful transfer if I bridge more than about 220 megs the last few games don't actually show up (It seems to consistently happen regardless of folder or game structure).

*18 might not be exact as if a ROM was removed the save game hangs around the system, but I'm pretty good about deleting those thumbnails so it's pretty close to that number.

I'm using SNES 2010 Core.

Thoughts? Can someone see how many save states they can create on their own system for SNES, perhaps 25-30?!? I probably have SRAMs for twice that number. I've read somewhere else that another user seemed limited at 10. I am thinking we might be hitting that 30mb limit in some cache folder somewhere which would explain 1-6 and also 7.

BTW, I know I am new to this forum, but dang is this thread out of control. Surprised it hasn't been locked to force separate topics. My sincere apologizes if this was covered earlier, I tried to skim the near 300 pages but couldn't find anything about it.

I'm assuming every time a save state is made it makes a copy of that particular game, which for non-NES games could be rather large. Piling up a bunch of those in one folder group would lead to errors it seems. Using 40 SNES as an example, and assuming our total games folder is well under 300MB, couldn't we just group the games into four folders of 10 games each? Then I would think each game can have a save. I am unable to test this right now, but if someone wants to try it (or comment on why this might not work) it would probably be helpful.

I know this has been talked about a lot... but can I get a quick tutorial on how to add cores? I'm interested in adding the picodrive core to my system for Sega 32X.

Also... has anybody got the analog stick working with diagonal directions acting properly? And if not, can N64 be forced to use the D-pad so that my games are halfway playable?!

You still need help with this? If so, I am not good with videos but will post detailed instructions on how I got mine to work later after work when I get a chance.

As for the analog stick, if you search this thread I saw someone post how to do this by modifying a command line argument to a game or in a file.

So going off this... I got to thinking. I was originally testing the last 3 save points with a quite large game. I tried finding a smaller game and still was limited to 3 save points. So it can't be based off the size of the game itself, maybe it is dumping the entire RAM which I'm wondering if that is consistent for all SNES games to a single location?!? Not sure how it all technically works, but that may explain why I can save more Genesis games.

For clarification the navigation folders don't seem to be the limitation here as it spans across multiple folders (i.e. Deleting one save in folder A will allow a new save in Folder B). I am thinking it is caching some the contents in both Navigational Folder A and B to a single location.

I had the same problem with Snow Bros. on the Genesis system. I renamed the zip file without the . in Snow Bros and then it would create a save state. Weird I know. Check the naming of the Rom file and see if there's a bunch of punctuation that you can get rid of if possible.

Nope... wasn't the problem... guess I will hunt down another rom and see if it works or not... or if there is somehow a glitch with just that game... nothing else gives me a problem...

Maybe it's not the individual sub folders, but the main folder containing them? Like if you have a SNES folder on the main screen and then those four folders of 10 games each within it, it would still be treated as 40 games in one folder. So how about putting those four SNES folders directly on the main screen (i.e. removing any folders within folders)?

If this works I think it may be a retroarch thing as the majority of NES games people are adding are utilizing the stock emulator, and people are not having these major save state issues with NES games (yes, some have been reported, but not like what we're seeing with SNES).

Question on cores...

Maybe I download the wrong ones...

When I go to download different cores... what build am I looking for?

There are a lot of different ones to choose form and am curious... since when I download these different cores, I make all the necessary adjustments, but then the roms don't load... get a black screen then right back to the menu...

Is this the right place to grab the cores from: https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/linux/armhf/latest/

Or am I grabbing cores that are not able to work with the nesce and/or hakchi2?

Has anyone tried bsnes on the nesce?
