Hi all,

I followed the guide over at 3ds.guide to install CFW on a N3DS on 10.3.

Now I have another N3DS 11.3 that is not hacked with games and ambassador rewards that I would like to system transfer to the hacked N3DS.

I have done a bit of research and knows that A9LH and Luma3ds can run on 11.3, does that mean I have to update the hacked N3DS to 11.3 and initiate a system transfer?

Is it safe to do a system transfer in the first place? If safe, how do I merge the two SD cards after the system transfer? Finally, will the freeshop still be available afterwards?

Sorry for all the questions and appreciate any help on this!

So to clear this up, you have A9LH right?

Update Luma3DS to latest
Update via System Settings
System Transfer
I see. Afterwards, which folders/files will I need to merge between the two SD cards? As in, isn't FBI, Luma etc going to be on the target SD card but all my games and saves are on the source SD card?

Should I use Hourglass9 to back up SysNand before I begin? Finally, is there any tool that will allow me to back up the games and saves etc from the source N3DS before I begin?

Thanks in advance and sorry for so many questions.

  • Leave the respective SD cards in the original consoles while transferring
  • It will tell you when to move the source SD card to the target console - when that happens, delete the Nintendo 3DS folder from the target then replace it with the one from the source. This will make sure you keep all your homebrew and hack files intact.
  • Basically just follow the instructions that the consoles tell you.
Yes you can backup the NAND on the target if you like, but if you restore it after the transfer you'll lose the data from the source console (Mii Plaza, Activity Log etc). Is that what you want? You'll be able to sign back in with the NNID of the source console to redownload the games.

To backup saves, use JKSM.

Hi all,

Just wanted to say thank you for all the help, the system transfer was ultimately successful but I wanted to leave some notes here for other people who may have gotten to the same situation.

1.1Follow this guide to safely update to 11.3 on target system: https://www.reddit.com/r/3dshacks/comments/5tv4pc/steps_to_follow_to_update_to_113/
2. Use Hourglass9 to back up your SysNAND just before the system transfer just in case.
3. Go through the steps here to do the system transfer: http://en-americas-support.nintendo...ntendo-3ds,-nintendo-3ds-xl,-and-nintendo-2ds
4. After the system transfer, best to make a back up of both the source and target SD card so if you do something wrong then you can go back to them. (I did a back up but I felt I did it at the wrong place in the process.)
5. Copy over everything on the target SD card EXCEPT for the Nintendo 3DS folder to the source SD card which then you can insert into the source N3DS.
6. Repeat Section III, V and VI of this guide BUT DO NOT DO SECTION IV: https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax

I believe that should be good, thanks again everyone and hope my little steps here will help others!
