Let's not pretend that even PS4 is impressive compared to modern graphics technology...it's 2011 GCN architecture FFS. Nvidia > AMD every day of the week. Yet again heavily dumped down if at all and I heavily doubt it even happens because Nintendo is terrible as usual and can't even keep up with current gen using their next gen device. How pathetic is that? None of the modern games want to be on the Switch now or any other Nintendo platform. They tried and failed on Wii, gave up on Wii U later on and now on the Switch they probably won't even bother anymore due to underpowered hardware.
Unique in being a 3DS+ console which can be connected to the TV screen. Wooow, so innovative. The same can be done with smartphones or laptops (which are far superior devices) if one wanted to but at the same time there are actually games coming out for those devices unlike the 5 Nintendo launch titles which are basically 4 rehashes till later when you get a few more. Who is going to carry around the Switch, a smartphone and a laptop now when travelling? Gaming nerds that want to play the same game at any time don't have the need to travel so stay at home and just play your "proper" home console or handheld. The selling point of the Switch is pointless. Even so, why not just switch the game when you start travelling. Not that this ever bothered anybody because things get dull so again, play the same game all day and stay at home if it matters to you that much :|

A smartphone plays garbage mobile games, not console games. If you can't discern why there'd be demand for a hybrid console, then you're pretty much the only one.

You're arguing from a graphics stand-point but the purpose is the one of a 3DS+, you can play on the go and on the home TV screen. Games are dumbed down since it's more a handheld than a home console still since it can't even beat the 2012 consoles by the competition in terms of hardware
A laptop isn't just a gaming device unlike Nintendo consoles so you pay more for a good reason. And even for around 500 $ you get better hardware than the Switch. In case you didn't catch on, smartphones are now starting to receive big/elaborate mobile games (e.g. Pokémon GO and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links) which are only slightly simpler than their "full" console counterparts and the gap is closing

My only horse in this race is pointing out obvious factual errors and fallacies. I already own a high-end gaming PC. Which is why Switch is the only current-gen console worth a damn in my eyes, it provides use cases that my PC cannot, while Sony/MS' worthless bricks would just sit on a shelf. I'll say it again so everybody can get it through their skulls: you don't buy a console for high-end power. Thus arguing over how PS4's 1.8 TFlops is "so much more impressive" than Switch's 1.1 TFlops is a fucking joke. That's 1.8 TFlops to my PC's ~18 TFlops. 10x the power and Sony didn't even manage a form factor 1/10th the size. Pathetic.
