What do you mean by this? That post he quoted is mine, I haven't had any problems (at least that I'm aware of) by inserting my own cores into the hmod file...

Well, if you always remove the previous version before installing a new one, you'll be fine.
But if you'll remove some files from the hmod and install this new version without removing the previous one, it will keep the files you removed

Hi pcm720. Thank you for all of the great work. I see you have added a CPS2 core. Does this work for CPS1? Could you add the blueMSX core that is used to play MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ games (i.e. Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Aleste, and Aleste II)? I am not sure if there is another MSX core that may be better.

Is there any chance of getting a core that can play 32X games? I noticed that you removed the PicoDrive, recently, due to issues.

Sure, I'll add it to the repo.
We'll see with the 32X.
The only core available in RA's repo for 32X is PicoDrive. I'll look into alternative PicoDrive cores from other RA distributions.

Hello pcm720 and once again, you've done amazing work!!
So, if I want to install the new version of RA, I uninstall the old one, and then I install the new RA hmod along with the cores as modules (tick the boxes in hakchi2), correct?
If I want to play genesis, snes or n64 games, which (according to you of course), are the best cores? I see there are two cores for n64, and I read that some snes games freeze...
Also, can I use a wii classic controller for these games? (Or wii classic controller pro)??

Yes, you're correct.
For Genesis, Master System and Game Gear use Genesis Plus GX
For now, the only core for SNES available in the repo is Snes9x2010. I've seen that CATSFC works better, but I need people's feedback on this. If it works great, I'll add it as a module.
As for the N64, I've seen that GLupeN64b works better than Mupen64Plus

Classic Controller should work, but I don't have one, so can't say for sure

I need more details on what did you do, PM me, please

@pcm720 I would like to use your template to install cores. I'm stopped at step 4. "Copy the corresponding *.info file to <hmod folder>/etc/libretro/info"

Where can I get the corresponding info file. On the libreto nightly builds... I can only download the core.

So I used the 2.12 program...screwed up my NES. I have done multiple flashes on my mini so far, but never had issues till now. When i power on, I get a black screen, does nothing else. When I power off, I get the C8 error message. I've tried to re flash original kernel...but it doesn't recognize my mini when i connect it to my laptop via USB. Just sits on the instructions screen. Anyone else have this issue or a possible fix?

Trust me, it's better not to mess with the hmod archive. This can lead to having the cores you won't be able to remove. That's why I used module system for the cores in the first place

I'll upload a new template along with fbalpha2012_cps2, fceumm and nestopia cores soon (soon means about 10-15 hours).
I don't see how that's true. If you have access to the cores folder you can always change out cores or delete cores therefore how can you ever be stuck with cores you don't want?

im going to do this because i also installed a different version of retroarch
hope it works
well here's an update:
even with only the 30 original games, and a folder of 30 extra SNES games. I am unable to have more than 16 SNES save states. The hackchi installation is completely vanilla. I re-flashed the original Kernel onto my NESCE before I put the SNES games on it. I double checked to make sure there weren't any "." in the names before the .sfc in the file name. I am going to assume this has to be the same for everyone else because I did everything to the T and still have this issue. Is this a hard-cap on the save states?

You have to make sure you have the right versions of the games. I have 716 games. 680 nes games and 36 snes genesis and gba games and everything is working splendidly!

I'm a little lost. I haven't flashed my mini since 2.04 or something. Now that 2.12 is out with support for retroarch. I've downloaded 2.12 and the hmod file.

Where does the hmod file go and how do we control which cores are installed?. I only want the full nes collection including exclusive pal roms on the nes mini. Is there a tutorial somewhere in these 200 pages between the 6 million nesito videos?

I don't know what you mean by this. I am using the no-intro version of the games, which are highly recommended. Everything is named properly. There is definitely enough storage available. Have you tried adding more than 20 quick-save states in your SNES library? Please try it and get back to me. I seriously want to fix this.

Figuring this out is my number one concern at present. Does it just not let you make a 17th save state, or does it C4/C8 you?

Well take for example emu paradise if you download a romset it has multiple versions of each game including hacks etc. in those versions the official true best working ones will have an explanation point in it. If it does not have an explanation point then it's a risky rom.

C4 error when I try to save the 17th save state. Always and consistently. I deleted 1 save state, and was able to save just fine. Anything other than that was just another C4 error.
