Hi I've tried searching and googling and not found an answer yet, I hope someone can help me. Can I use my existing external hard drive that I use on Wii U to add self-ripped games to it from disc? And still have full access to the games already stores on the external Wii U HDD? Thanks.

You can add self-ripped WiiU games (made with wudump and wud2app/discu/jwudtools) to a WiiU-formatted drive, such as one that already has WiiU games on it that came from the eShop. When you install them using WupInstaller, they will be stored the same way that WiiU eShop games are.

I'm a little lost... I hacked my 3DS consoles back in the Gateway 3DS days and didn't have a lot of trouble, but the Wii U scene is suddenly developing so fast it's insane! :)

Well, from what I have garnered, Mocha CFW on SysNAND + Haxchi exploit seem to be the way to go, right?

I want to play out-of-region discs (I just received the US disc version of Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero and want to play it on my PAL console) as well as games, VC and DLC downloaded from USB Helper.

I'd like to buy an external HDD or USB stick to store my games. My SD card is the standard one (2 GB) which came with the console, so it seems I need to buy an 8 GB SD card?

I would follow this guide:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-setup-custom-firmware-w-sigpatches.446818/

According to the comments I have read, I won't install redNAND (since it's unnecessary?) but sysNAND CFW and I will install Haxchi but not ColdBootHax (since it's unsafe?).
EDIT: It seems "ColdBoot HaxChi" isn't that bad anymore, so I guess I'll go for it.

- Any other tutorials that I should follow?
- And will I be able to play out-of-region discs when booting into Mocha or do I still need Regionhax Installer?
- Could I still use Regionhax Installer to be able to play out-of-region discs without booting into CFW?

I'd really appreciate any help! :)

Yep, Mocha and CHBC cfw have region free, so you can boot your out of region game.
I don't know. Why do you want to use regionhax if mocha already have it? You can boot a CFW on start with coldboothax (https://gbatemp.net/threads/cbhc-v1-6-coldboot-haxchi-cfw.452615/).

Nice, that's the kind of step-by-step tutorial I was looking for, thank you!

Well, when I thought about using regionhax I didn't consider using coldboot (I had a change of mind after learning more about it). So yeah, CBHC should be all I need. :)

So what i've gathered so far from messing around with this stuff is the dumping process with wudump takes very long and on top of it only dumps to sd from there you have to install the ticket info onto a usb using one of the installers. There were a couple pc apps that i found helped in the process and wiiu apps that i'm hoping will help simplify things for me but don't know if i am allowed to mention them here due to forum rules . Also decided to go with just installing haxchi in one of the supported vc games for ds i went with phantom hourglass one of my questions for that is is can you use the same vc game for hxchi and nnupatch (or whatever its called) to get onto the eshop or do you have to use two separate vc games and is nnupatch permanent on said vc game or does it disappear on a hard system reboot? Very new to all this and just trying to learn as i go basically haha:/

Or a FAT32 USB drive. (Shut down, disconnect your WiiU drive if you have one, start, cancel the format dialog.) Yes, it takes a long time, and it needs to be able to read the whole disc, no matter how small the game is.

one of my questions for that is is can you use the same vc game for hxchi and nnupatch (or whatever its called) to get onto the eshop or do you have to use two separate vc games and is nnupatch permanent on said vc game or does it disappear on a hard system reboot?
You extract the haxchi zip to the root of your SD which puts the haxchi directory on the root of your SD drive, and the haxchi installer directory under SD:/wiiu/apps.

Then look at SD:/haxchi/config.txt. The default= line runs homebrew launcher. You can run nnupatcher from there, or you can add it as a button like y=/wiiu/apps/nnupatcher/nnupatcher.elf. If you do that you'll get HBL if you don't press anything at Haxchi's banner screen, and nnupatcher if you press y.

After you make changes to config.txt, run the Haxchi Installer.

NNUpatcher is removed from memory when you boot, but the config entry doesn't go away, so you can start Haxchi and press Y whenever you need it.

Buy a prepaid card for the eshop. Not completely sure, but the minimum is 15 Euro as far as I saw. Means you will have some money left after buying the cheapest DS game.

Buy an prepaid card/code online on some webshop. BTW, you can also get prepaid Credit Cards and put cash on that. Not the cheapest option, but it is possible. I would prefer the prepaid card bought online.

Nope, you need to buy that DS game for Haxchi/CHBC.

GBA:
Downloads:

Note: Base games may need to differ depending on their save file type. The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap seems to work for most of them so far though. Check out the GBA Compatibility Guide.

1. Copy your base game folder, rename it to be the new game name, and create a unique [ID6] for it.
2. Hold shift and right-click in the white space of the "inject_gba-master" folder (not on a file) and select Open Command Window Here
3. Write or paste the following into the command window (first time running only):
Code:
python setup.py install
4. Paste the following into the command window (each rom):
Code:
inject_gba --gui
Note: You can also use it by command line with the following:
Code:
inject_gba --inpsb "alldata.psb.m" --inrom "rom.gba" --outpsb "out\alldata.psb.m

--allow-overwrite and --create-backup options can be added as well.
5. Navigate to and choose your input ROM
6. Navigate to and choose your alldata.psb.m file to be injected into (from copied \content\ folder in Step 1)
7. Choose where you want to store your new alldata.psb.m file (to copied game folder from Step 1)

You will see a message similar to:
Code:
Replacing 'system/roms/ABZMP0.J22.m'
Packing fileinfo struct (289 entries)

8. Move the alldata.psb.m and alldata.bin files to your new game's content folder and overwrite them.

GB Injection into GBA:
Downloads:

Goomba to convert GameBoy games to GBA
Hex editor

1. Rename your file to rom.gb
2. Download and open Goomba 2.0
3. Select the goomba.gba emulator file
4. Uncheck the "splash screen?" box
5. Make the output filename rom.gba
6. Find the folder with your GB game and click Add to move it to the right side. You can add a bunch of GB games to this emulator if you'd like, but I think it looks nicer to have 1 game per VC title.
7. Click Compile at the bottom
8. Open your rom.gba in a hex editor
9. Scroll to the bottom and pad it with FF until it is 0x00FFFFF long (16,384KB)

Note: an easy way to do this is to put the cursor at the end of the file and then use the "Insert Block..." command to tell it how many bytes to add. Google can tell you how many bytes to pad it with by searching for "0x01000000 - 0xYourOriginalRomSize"

9. Save the file and continue with the normal replacement process.

Note: In my experience, game mods do not work! You'll get a message that says "This game can only be played on a GameBoy Color or GameBoy Advance"
I'm trying to get Shantae (GBC) working on Wii U GBA VC. I used Goomba Color to convert it (no splash screen, single ROM).

I'm a total noob in hex editing..., could someone please have a look if what I did here is correct? The final offset is called "00FFFFF0", I have no idea if this correlates with "0x00FFFFF". It's what I got from using the "insert bytes" function of HxD.

The resulting file size seems fine to me, though:

Oh, and to save me from some trial and error: If anyone here succeeded in injecting goomba/goomba color, which base VC ROM did you use? Is it Minish Cap again?

Thanks! :)

So today I started to hack my WiiU. I decided to go for just Haxchi, not CHBC, because of the possible brick when the Haxchi game would be removed.

At first, it all started out fine, prepared SD card, ran Haxchi fine on Brain Training. through Homebrew Channel and WUP installer was able to install HBC and WUP installer GX2 as channels on the WiiU.

So far, so good. Had the Haxchi file in a folder on last page, because at first I thought to use CHBC so less chance of anyone touching it. Now that I would have to run Haxchi each time I boot up the WiiU (no coldboot/autoboot), it would be easier to put the Haxchi DS game to 1st page instead of last one in a folder.

On the forum, often was said that moving the Haxchi game would not give any problems. Strangely, after I moved it and when I clicked it, now screen turns black and on Gamepad it gives just this: '-5'

So it seems moving it, made something go wrong. Decided to delete the game and download it again from eStore, to do the Haxchi again. After deleting the non working Haxchi game, I downloaded it again from the Eshop. When I want to boot the Homebrew Channel now through the browser with http://loadiine.ovh, it gives a black screen and says 'FSGetMountSource failed.'

Anyone that ran into those same errors? How to fix the 'FSGetMountSource failed'? Before I ran the loadiine.ovh website lots of times, never got this error and it always pretty much ran without any problems

"FSGetMountSource failed" means that the console was unable to find the SD card. I fix this issue by ejecting my SD card and blowing in my port. However this could also mean a partitioning or filesystem issue.
I believe the -5 error means that the file Haxchi was trying to boot into did not exist on the SD card, but I could be wrong about this. @FIX94 removed the actual error text from Haxchi due to issues.

Hi all,
Is there a way to change DNS settings so the browser will connect to the Loadiine site for using the exploit and still block updates or do I need to self host Loadiine myself and have everything blocked by changing DNS settings!?

Thanks,
M
