Opening an iPhone isn't intended for normal customers to do but it's possible and damage is avoidable. So, no, if done right it won't be screwed up, Yil.
Is it soldered to the system though? Or is it just some double sided tape?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

True, but I would preferably not, especially with my less than superb skill. If you are not a master, then don't touch anything of value. And who will supply the parts anyway?
People will dismantle the console and sell its parts at ridiculous prices
A power bank is a much more simple way of doing things though.

Exactly my points. There are no suppliers beside Nintendo (actually other companies but you know what I am saying) and the parts are not meant to be handled by average gamer.
I just don't know if 15w can satisfy the switch. And simply 15w requirement filter out a good number of them.

Seems easy to repair! No need to send for Nintendo to switch the battery hopefully :)
Yep, Nintendo will sure as hell make you pay double the OG cost.

If the average gamer includes PC gamers it shouldnt be too much of an issue.

I think everyone who has a 3DS and uses it regularly uses it as a portable some, but probably at about an 85/15 ratio on average, of home to portable. For example I mostly play on my 3DS at home, but when my daughter has a piano or violin lesson, I sit in the car for that hour and continue my game. That hour is IMPORTANT to me. So the Switch is looking to be a fantastic upgrade, and perfect for my habits. I'm surely not alone in that.

On the other hand, I don't own a PS4 or XBOne. I don't have the time for those AAA titles you're focused on. I'd like to have that kind of time, but I haven't since my 20's. You can say that makes me a casual gamer if you like. I'd like to think I just have my priorities in order.

So youre implying that people that have PS4/XBOXONE and a family and play AAA games dont have their priorities in order? Lol

I bet! Here a local store wanted to charge double than the price of a brand new Apple computer because of a fried motherboard. So we just scrapt it and bought a new Apple computer instead. It was cheaper after all. (The insurance refused to cover it for reasons unknown, even if we have the extra protection plan)

My priorities are mine, yours are yours. My job may take more time than your job. Video games aren't my only hobby, but for some people they are. Etc. etc. I was only speaking for myself. I've been practicing law for 20 years now and the job is taking a lot more of my time now than it did when I was first getting started. Responsibility's a bitch.

I can't tell you how many friends have thought I was a godsend for just replacing a broken battery in their macbook for 30-50 bucks, all total. The repair game has to have huge margin of profit to stay in business, it would seem.

On topic, it'll be nice to buy broken switches and fix them up really easily. Looks like a straightforward assembly that isn't overly complicated.

I have done my fair share of plugging cables and screwing screws, but I would prefer to leave it alone. There is not much point of replacing the battery yourself if you can just give it back to Nintendo.

Except out of warranty repairs usually cost way too much (and generally batteries aren't covered anyway) so sure, while you might not want to do it, for some people being able to buy a $15 battery and install it themselves would be better than paying Nintendo $100 to do it for you, plus there are some places that don't even have official repair centres

Each to their own I guess

And then there are the cell phone repair shops that will do it for $60. I might be able to do it but would have to invest in some specialized tools and a few hours researching the process. Better to pay someone a few bucks that does this type of thing all day.

The PS4 and XBONE were outdated ON LAUNCH. The same with pro.

Yes theyre selling great but not anywhere near PC. Switch is aiming for gameplay over graphics which is admirable.
Switch isnt using even older tech, what are you on? The foxconn leaks would mean tech from 2016 not 2011 :rofl2:.

Their demographic is ALL people not core gamers. A nintendo home console would sell like crap what does it have over PS4? nothing.
what does it have over XBONE? Nothing.

Exclusives arent enough.

The games you mean that were already over a year in development, with custom engines or whatever...or some other "AAA" games? It doesn't mater *what* the game is...if it is released on multiple platforms, and one of those is the Switch, that is the one that is going to sell, because it will poach sales from the other platforms that do not offer the Switch's Value-Add to Actual Consumers™

The question is not about 2016's 2017 model AAA Games. It is about Holiday into 2018. (90% of *everything* is developed on Unity and Unreal. Look *wider* as well as *deeper*. Any game coming out multi-platform for "consoles"...in almost every way, is a better buy on Switch...because it is versatile and you can play *that same game* wherever.

This is coming from someone with an XBONE that has been literally unplugged for about 6mo and has a PS4/VR, multiple computers...I am not a "platform whore" by any stretch of the imagination. I am simply telling you that ANY cross platform game of ANY sort or genre that is releasing on the Switch...this is the FIRST version to be considered for purchase...because I can only play such a title on other things *if I am at home*.

Indeed, I wonder how much @DeadlyFoez @gamesquest1 and @smealum are drolling over those motherboards.

Portability is certainly a huge factor to consider for mult-plats, but price is as well. There is only so much of a premium I am willing to pay for portability. $50 for Bomberman and $40 for Tetris, no thanks.
