PS3 and PSP have CFW.
Xbox (the old one) had some form of CFW (NDURE) and 360 could be JTAG/RHD modded.
Therefore, your argument is completely invalid.
The original xbox actually has quite a few custom firmwares available for it without needing a modchip, along with custom bios if you want to TSOP flash. (as easy as bridging a couple connections on the mobo and running some homebrew.
In fact there were many exploits that involved transferring modified saves to certain games, kinda like some of the exploits we have on 3ds.

Well, the thing is Nintendo consoles are the most hacked so far every Nintendo system can run unsigned code except for the switch that's not even out yet. Nintendo has caused more exploits to happen when they tried to patch stuff on the 3ds patching stuff can lead to more bugs.

I would be way cool with this because we'd have a ton of emulator options as soon as they did.
Yes! It'd be awesome.
The homebrew posibilities with this Nintendo console are pretty much limitless.
I was being sarcastic with the possible fact that people will hack the device in order to play Candy Crush and Minecraft.
I mean, c´mon.... you can possibly play Gamecube and Wii games on it.
Let alone N64 classics with HD textures :yay:

While I want it to be hacked so I can get free games, I think if it's cracked in the first 6 months it would drastically harm game sales from 3rd party sellers...and would ultimately make the switch a failure

not really ..not everyone hacks their consoles and voids warranty ...modders are always a minority ..it's the peeps like Gateway who make the most money out if of an early hack ..

They're a company after all, they got to make money even if the code used is stolen and far from brick proof

im honestly thinking its going to be fairly quick to see a "WE DID IT!!!" post from yellows8 or failoverfl0w, my guess would be 4 months to 1 year, but as for actual end user homebrew, that will probably not come for a long time, we will have the obligatory 2 years of teasing and hacker conferences alluding to full blown hacks and cfw already fully complete but all private (fair enough I guess, full blown piracy hacks too early would jeopardise 3rd party support, although that argument was given in regards to the Wii U and it still didn't help it succeed, I think if a system is going to be popular it will do so on its own merit)

maybe we can all just become devs and have dev kits and only use the switch for homebrew XD

This. I don't have any verifiable statistics but I rarely meet anyone in the wild that has done any hacking on systems. Maybe 3-4%? Most people don't have the time or desire.

This is why a used N3DS that takes 3-4 hours to hack goes for $375 on eBay.

I can agree to the sentiment of 3ds piracy being much too easy, but again the blame for that fall's on Nintendo for doing sloppy fixes, the safefirmhax was a really stupid oversight

I just ran a random number generator and it gave me "369".
I can only understand this is the amount of days until the event. (because crystal ball)
So it will happen on February 19th, 2018.

Legit. /s
This is the biggest necrobump on Earth but I can't believe how close you were to the actual date that RCM (Maybe not RCM? The actual exploit reswitched used back then was vague) was put into use.

You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.

I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.

I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.

South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Most of the time yea I knew, I watch and read the news regularly, but sometimes the Hollywood BS stuff, like concerning actors slip by me. I don't follow most Hollywood BS (example: the Kardasians)

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa there were relevant issues before south park was made, that's why i think a south park prequel/spinoff would be great. Randy and his friends in their child hood

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, like them running in high school together, getting into stuff, and how they got hitched and had kids. And how the town of South Park was back then compared to now. That would be cool to see.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@salazarcosplay if they made a prequel, it would still be about current issues, cause it doesn't make sense to make it about stuff that happened 30 years ago that nobody cares about anymore
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's too late
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the older south park episodes about particular issues usually age poorly since the topic is no longer relevant
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
an exception is giant douche vs turd sandwich, that's always relevant :P
