Breath of the Wild to have Alternate Endings

BreathoftheWildFinalCover.jpg

In a recent interview with IGN Portugal, Eiji Anouma revealed an interesting feature of the upcoming Zelda title; the game will have an alternate ending.

"There is an alternate ending if you meet certain criteria. If you do a few things, you may see a different ending," Aonuma revealed to IGN Portugal.

The article also points to their upcoming full interview with Mr Anouma where he confirms, among other features, the presence of Link's legendary companion Epona and introduces the golf-style mini-game that uses an item called Stasis Rune.

Breath of the Wild seems to be a very ambitious title after each and every little detail reveal! I bet a lot of you are hoping that it lives up to the expectation!

Majora's Mask technically had three endings if I recall correctly. If you let time run out, the moon would crash into Termina, and if you don't get all the masks you can't become the Fierce Diety (don't know if that could technically be counted as an alternate ending, but there's more story revealed about the Skull Kid because of it)
I have yet to play that one. When I do, I plan to play with my nose in a guide so I can collect all the masks and not miss events. When I play games with multiple endings, I try to get for the "most canon" ending first. That way I do not feel the need to replay a game, like, say, you would feel if you got a less than satisfying ending. Luckily must Zelda's are about the gameplay, not the journey's end, so thats nice.

what was it again ?
IIRC it's different between the original and the DX version, in the original you see Marin with wings at the "The End" screen. I think in the DX version you just get a picture of Marin and that's it.

But yeah, OT, that's neat I suppose. I'm curious as to whether it'll actually be "multiple" endings based on story or just slight changes based on extra stuff that doesn't matter.

Maybe it's a summary like in Witcher 3 but with Links achievements for the people of Hyrule (mainly sidequests)
instead of decisions made during the story missions.

I'm very hyped for the game, but I will be satisfied as long as it's better than
"The Legend of Zelda : The Faces of Evil" or "The Legend of Zelda : The Staff of Gamelon" :rofl2:
You dare bring light to this lair, now I will destroy you.
I was more on the different set of final boss depending on possession of certain objects, etc.

Link's Awakening had a (slightly) different ending if you finished the game without dying.
already confirmed to be fake

personally, I thionk it will be something like if you killed 10k monster over the game, the ending will say that Hyrule has been purified of its doom. if you havent, then hyrule soldier will still have work to do

Boss: YOU KILLED MEEEEEE!!!! *sound of melting wizard*
Zelda: GOOD!!!

Maybe the battle phases change depending on equipment and who/how many aid you in battle.
I would love to have cinematic tag team attacks with Gorons, Zoras, Dekus(?), Gerudos and ...... *sniff* ... Bird ... Persons .....
*slowly whispering in an angry manner* fucke you tammy!!!
Ohh ... where was I? Ah, yes! The endings!
Gathering support support from each faction through their sidequests. And in the end it's Hyrule United vs. the Powers of Evil!
Most likely not ... but it was nice to think about it :creep:

IIRC when the moon crashes down, the Goddess of Time warps you back to the point before that happened. So it doesn't actually end that way. And Fierce Diety isn't very crucial to the story in the game.

Well, this is almost unheard of in Zelda games. MM was the only one that had multiple outcomes, mainly due to the fact that the game had a time limit of sorts.

Nah. I own the VC game and beat it a couple years back before hacks were widely available. Didn't see anything different.
I remember people saying this about ALttP, but that turned out to be false.

That's cool. Is this the first Zelda game to actually have different endings? Or could get a one or two in the other games? I honestly cant remember.

The NES original had two endings. I thought one was for not dying but a few seconds of google says the 2nd one was just for beating the 2nd quest (which I'd only beaten with no deaths, explaining my slight misconception).

You didn't look close enough, LA definitely has a slight change when beaten with 0 deaths.

The differences aren't huge, so they're easy to miss but they are there for LA:

I have those N64 guides, too, but I haven't played MM in over a year, and I'm on the last dungeon (I think)! It feels like your still playing Ocarina, but in a new land, with better textures and draw distance, and a few new items/concepts.

Do they still make official guides for Zelda games in this day and age? I sure hope so! I want to see the good ending in BotW!

Ah, that's why. The VC version is the DX colored one. I DID play the original on the Gameboy itself, though never beat it without dying at least once. Never cared that I died, didn't know it affected the ending.

Do we actually know the timeline of this game? There is a timeline where Link lost to Ganon. Maybe this is a game that directly follows this timeline, with Zelda crying and all.

Nintendo released an official timeline a while back that included this possibility- apparently A Link to The Past takes place in a timeline sometime after Link dies during Ocarina of Time.
