Well, I personally prefer pass the crashing spot using dubbed game then save and reload with undubed one than having to support this horrible english voice acting, it's a million time worse than japanese one, i just can't...I will try to locate the problematic file and report it to you, if another crash occur, I will do the same, ect until we have the closest thing to a full undub game

I kept all the files anyway so if the crash can be fixed, we will be able tol resume the work on it without any problems (I'm pretty sure the problem is just a single file which is completely different from what the game expect).

I also noticed something (Useful or not, I don't know atm).
Actually it's crashing when playing a moflex file.
But it doesn't look like a moflex file because it's in a good quality and doesn't seems to be compressed on the 3DS.
Usually, moflex are in a crap quality.
Open 602_2.moflex and you will see the guy when he laughs in the castle.

So maybe the moflex is trying to load the sound and know what it's happenin with the new sound, then crash.
Yes, these moflex doesn't have audio, it's loaded from the .bcstm.

It seems the file which make the game crash is Dhoulmagus japanese laughs

When the laughs is in english, the game doesn't crash.

What happen if you replace the molex file with the japanese version? Maybe that would fix the problem (if yes, it would mean all the moflex files would require to be replaced by their japanese counterparts).

Hmm, does having dummy files for "602_2_SE.dspadpcm.bcstm, 602_2_SE_VOOFF.dspadpcm.bcstm, 602_2_VOICE.dspadpcm.bcstm" work? if so, worse case rebuild the moflex with the audio inside.

Rebuilding the moflex would mean you can't have a Voice Off version though.

If it's those files, I guess replacing them with the japanese moflex files would be enough to fix the problem.

Maybe the moflex files contain specific infos from the sound file and so, as the english ones has other infos, the video doesn't know what to do?

At least, we know that leaving the sound in english fix the crash.

It just for a test, to know if the problem is that or not.

It seems like there are only 41 moflex files in the japanese version so it doesn't seem it's often used in the game.

If it's really that, we would either leave this tiny bit of audio in english or try to either rencode the sound and/or the video.

(I quickly checked the other videos and most of the others doesn't seem to have voices, only music so if the problem is that, we could just not replace the sound for those ones. It seems only Dhoulmagus's one have voices linked to it).

Edit : Toto621 says the laughs which make the game crash is not a part of the sound linked to the video, it's the one just after.

I wonder if remuxing the Japanese moflex to use the video footage from the English one would work, but still preserve the 1:08 length.

I'd be curious to see if using the Japanese Moflex/Audio works, having looked at the videos side-by-side it looks like the Japanese pauses just a bit longer each time dialogue is on the screen, imagine you edit the English to do the same but since the translation must be grabbing the text from a script file you may end up with blank dialogue boxes once extending the video.

Unless you could then go re-time those >.<

If it's just the sound file after, the laugh, I guess just leaving it in english would be okay, it's just a laugh after all xD

With my method, it should be definitively findable but a bit tedious.

I worked a bit more on the renaming because it's sure we can overcome this crash (at least, by leaving the laughs in english) and as there are only a few videos in the whole game, we can suppose we probably won't have a lot of problems like this one.

More than 800 files (~67%) renamed, now

In fact, we already found how to fix it, as toto621 confirmed that when that laugh stay in english, it doesn't crash (and all the over voices, even those of this cutscene, works fine in japanese).

Now, all is need to do is to find exactly the filename of it to never overwrite it.

The english dub doesn't seem that bad, except for a few butchered dialogs (some dialogs of the king in japanese are not translated in english, they replaced them with some sounds, like "hmm... ah... eh...", dunno why).

Maybe the translator was lazy to translate those few sentences!

Leaving the laugh in English won't be a full undub though.
English Dhoulmagus and Japanese Dhoulmagus who's voiced by Takehito Koyasu have extremely different voices.
