Someone already did one if you are interested (orchestra music + uncensored outfits + engish voices), I gave the name of the release in a previous page if I remember right (made by "Canvah" if I remember the nickname right).

Yes Canzah did it for the EUR release, I'm using his base for the USA version. I'm just building the USA for people who don't have a European 3DS and don't want to bother with region emulation.

I love your uploads by the way, I've seen you around for years and always appreciated your posts.

You and Asia81 infact, I've been a romhacker since back in the GBA days...but your guys posts and tools have helped me get back into the scene with the 3DS. :3

Okay, I see.

I also did some romhacks sometimes ago (very long ago and a bit recently).

Second sorting is near done (just need to check/correct a few files).

It'll still take some times to rename everything (probably a few days), I only did the sorting of the files for now (I have one folder which have all the japanese files which have the same names as the english release, and I have another folder which have all the japanese files which have different names, which are the ones which need to be renamed, 1238 files (out of 7322), including BGM files).

I'll work on the renaming during the next week.

Edit : Working on a third files sorting which might help to accelerate the renaming process.

I'm sorting the english files which are not overwritten when you copy-paste the japanese files over it, as it's those ones which have the names I'll have to use on the japanese files (and thanks to this sorting, it'll able me to only have to search in ~3000 files rather than ~7300 files, which will be spare a lot of time).

I started the renaming and for the first ones, it's rather easy to spot the differences between filenames :

Japanese : script_207001_00.dspadpcm.bcstm
English : script_207001_0.dspadpcm.bcstm

(I double checked with the contents of the sound files and the dialogues are the same)

If most of them are like that, it might be a lot faster than I thought to rename everything.

Edit : 203/1238 files (~16%) renamed for now.

Edit (2) : 402/1238 files (~32%) renamed for now. I'll continue tomorrow.

I'm just working on the japanese undub, personally.

I'll personally ask Asia81 to make me a version without censored outfits (as it's altering the skin colors of the characters and as I don't really consider it to be censoring, as it's the same in the japanese version).

In the A2 Version (Current) I left the same skin colour the same as the original 3DS Textures, I still advice against using any of the modifications within a full CIA Repack since I haven't really tested them, pretty much just the latest versions I had made ready using the JPN version of the game.

Mainly put it up for testing with NTR which should just be drop the .zip onto SD card and run NTR CFW, I hope there aren't any issues though since a few repacks already using the textures.

I myself am waiting for the full Undub before I dive into the game, I'm only going to install that 3GBs once!

You need to create a folder on the root of your SD card with the title ID and put the D8res file in there. Then take the other file from the zip with the title ID and put it in SD/Plugins

After creating the folder on the root of SD card, should I put the whole "dq8res" folder or just the "data" folder?

hi, can I request one small uncensor?
Yangus in the japanese version has a small beer mug on his back, that was censored in the western versions ( it's present even in the japanese 3ds version )
if you could restore it, it would be nice..
thanks for all youve done so far, Red was looking like a Cheetos on the original 3ds textures

i have two questions about this restoration

1. Will this work for the AUS physical copy?

2. Are you going to restore the skin of all the characters so they don't look like The Simpsons?

Should work with AUS physical copy, normally same TitleID as EU.

As for the skin colour, I don't think its really noticeable unless you compare them side by side like I did in the OP, I only had the 3DS version booted up for a short while but looked fine on the device so I hadn't planned on doing so, would take awhile to replace every single NPC/Player characters textures, not against the idea though if its really wanted.

I am not seeing this as part of his model so must get attached, might have to put the JPN version back on my 3DS to see what I should be looking at, I'd be happy to get it back on there if I can.

Does he have a small beer mug from the moment you meet him?

Like you said, we never know what bugs it can create, but if some people prefer it, I have nothing against that. I'll share what is needed to do the full undub so everyone will be able to do it's own.

Actual progress : More than 600 files renamed, so half of the work is done.

I noticed a strange bug on the Orchestra build (EUR, my own build).

When you are in Trode's king castle (I don't know his english name), when Dhoulmagus (I don't know his english name too xD) is laughing loudly/hard, the game crash and kick me to the home menu.

It crash exactly here:

So I tried with the clean sound folder with a quick layeredfs patch, and it work, no crash.
So the Orchestra mod is causing the crash, and idk why.
I didn't delete any files/folders, I just pasted the japanese sound files in the eur sound folder (and not the folder itself).

Do anyone noticed the crash too, at this point of the game?
The game is trying to load the bgm at the moment, and the bgm crash the game.
If I can identify which bgm is loading, I can remove it while copying the japanese sound files and keep the clean one.

You can convert the sound to wav, so I guess you can easy identifiy the bgm. Someone in pm say me the same about the crash but he wondered if it was because some unused files crash the game because there are too much files for the game to handle so maybe the tool ignore some used files when repacked.

I sent him a pack with the japanese files which overwrite perfectlly the english ones (the ones which have the same name) and he said he'll check if the crash is still here.

If you can record a bit of the bgm in the untouched version and send me the sample in pm, I could easily say to you the filename of the file.

Else, you can "BCSTM to Wav Converter GUI" to convert the bgm to wav and check yourself which file is it.

I don't think every BGM should be replaced anyway as the number is not the same in both versions. Not to mention some sounds are way louder in japanese so I guess for those sounds, it would be better to leave the us version (like the save music for example).

I know how to convert bcstm to wav <->, it's not what I meant.
I should have use sound or files instead bgm.

I want mean that I need to know which sound is trying to load.
I will try to record a bit and send a sample

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Actually you don't even need to convert a bcstm to wav to listen it, just open the bcstm directly in EFE or Foobar2000

About the BGM, I noticed the japanese "BG_041.dspadpcm.bcstm" seems to have no equivalent in the american release so I haven't put it in my directory for example.

If you share your savefile, I might also be able to check in-game to find the filename of the BGM.

I have the exact same issue you have, crash at the same spot

Even with the pack I sent you?
