Hm, still can't get FB Alpha to run 3rd Strike. Are the little hidden files Macs make when writing to SD cards known to break anything with Wii U Retroarch? That's the only thing I could think of not making it work for me unless the game just isn't supported. But it's alright since I can still use the stand alone CPS3 core to play it.

Also, now that we have multiple controller support is it possible to make a controller besides the gamepad player 1? Don't believe I saw anything when messing around with quick menu settings yesterday.
third strike works perfectly for me so not sure why you are having problems sorry.

HATARI definitely needs SDL, and I am not 100% sure, but I think the problem I had compiling MAME2010, is that it also only supports SDL, or I just didn't know how to correctly define it as a NON-SDL build.

This is why I thought about making a port of SDL for Wii U. Not sure if I will, but it really needs to eventually be done.
there is an HATARI port for the wii, maybe there is some info on that?

Anyone knows how to compile from libretro repositories into a .rpx for the Wii U ?
For instance from Snes9X, which we know works
https://github.com/libretro/snes9x

I can't seem to find any instructions on the Retroarch rep
https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch
(it stops at Wii)

If we can figure this out we could potentially compile it for some other cores

I've added FBAlpha to the nightly Wii U libretro builds. I also updated 25 of the emulators on the appstore. I'm trying to make sure that everything on the appstore has the multi-controllers and screen rotation. There are some builds not in the nightlies that I do not have downloaded in order to compile on my PC, but if anyone has compiled any of these against bc8b3eb (https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/tree/bc8b3ebad54f237ff2fdd2016bfdc477ad1782d2), please post or give me a link, and I can add them to the appstore. If you want to know if an emulator has already been updated on the appstore, if it has today's date on it, I have already done it.

Is there any particular reason you want to compiled them for RPX when the ELF versions of Snes9x, Genesis Plus, etc work fine?

FB Alpha/Mame 2003 Midway (0.78) = Black screen/doesn't load zip.
Mame 2003 (0.78) = Game boots, but then it warns about a factory reset and you get stuck on the calibration screen when it asks to center the wheel and press Enter. Tried button combos but didn't work.
Transferring crusnusa.nv to the saves folder from the windows version also doesn't work, still triggers the calibration screen.

so no one is gonna tell me why my wii u freezes when i try to load one of the cores...
I thought someone already told you to make sure you have the newest version of HBL, which would be v1.4 if the SD card version, or v2.1 if the channel version, although if you are using the channel version, it should most definitely be v2.1. There's nothing wrong with any of the cores at all.

The only other problem could be if you had an elf version of an emulator, and updated through HBAS and you now have an rpx and elf file in the folder. Unfortunately, HBAS does not clear out the old elf file yet. They are working on improving that, but you can delete the emulator in HBAS and then re-download, or just delete the elf file from the SD card with the card inserted on your PC.

Thank you very much @ploggy
With Snes9x 2005, i can finally the good (and sadly sometimes old) SMW romhacks and they no longer crash when Yoshi spits a red shell!

My elf files and I feel obsolete :c

I don't think there's any true advantage to using Snes9x 1.53 in RPX format vs Elf. The only reason for RPX is to overcome memory limitations for emulators like MAME, for Snes9x, ELF is sufficient, tbh

The 1/17 builds are good enough for me.
