Cave Story and 1001 Spikes coming to Nintendo Switch

nicalistwit.png

Studio Nicalis has quietly confirmed on Twitter that two of their games, Cave Story and 1001 Spikes, will be joining The Binding of Issac on the Nintendo Switch. The Tweet confirming as such as since been deleted from the company's account, but the image within the Tweet is still floating about online. The initial post reads as follows:

Isaac was lonely so we brought a few friends to keep him company. #NintendoSwitch pic.twitter.com/VFmSPGkivj

Also interestingly to note, is the Switch itself. The UI has already been shown before, but this photo shows a dark theme instead of the white backgrounds that were featured with the demo units in New York and London. It is unknown if Cave Story and 1001 Spikes will be making their way in time for launch, though The Binding of Issac is scheduled for March 3rd.

I figure that, but I can still see a all black one coming later on.

Doesn't mean there wouldn't be one.
It'll have Netflix later on so chances are that it'll have a browser too but why isn't the icon of the browser already on it? Just seems strange.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

If they want more than €10 for Cave Story, I will just keep playing it on my toaster, or on my microwave, or on the fridge... Oh, so many ports make me confused...

OT Supposedly Soap-Man is modelled after Soap, but I always saw him as an old fridge. Oh, sure he has a name, Balrog perhaps?

All internet is rerouted via someones Mobile phone.
Even the matchmaking is. So no no direct browser on this awesome gadget, I think.
Besides there's not really a need for a browser is there?

Dude I FUCKING LOVE paying over-price for games I already bought 3 times over. IT'S THE BEST
Then do not buy it.
Also WHY would you buy a game 3 time before is beyond me...

Wasn't BoI a free flash game originally too? That's what baffles me the most about the absurd price tag they are associating with the Switch version. It will inevitably be a $5-$10 game eventually along with half the other indie stuff they are listing now. Still not sure on some of these insane price-tags though, maybe Nintendo is just using this all as a big think-tank experiment - "How much are our fans willing to pay for low-cost indie games??"

I've played Ikachan before but never Cave Story, if it's priced fairly like the 3DS version of Ikachan then I might finally give it a try.

don't be so sure this means anything coming from nicalis they've been known to port things without any intention of ever releasing and canceling completed games.
i'm very excited about isaac and have already preordered but those games don't interest me at all and i think they know most other people feel the same way.

Hydra Castle Labyrinth is a very nice indie game, it plays like La-Mulana (on the PC and Wii).
Both games get there influenced by the classic Konami MSX game The Maze of Galious.

So is nice this game comes to the Switch.

So no exploit :P

I am wondering if Switch have another version with 4G modem :P But no browser :D it is console not a fuckin media center god damn it :P
it's not amusing anymore that people just go like "heya, no browser, we can't hack it and play roms\it has a browser, maybe we can hack it and get free games on it"
maybe your are just kidding and i understand the joke, but loads of people seem to talk and think that way, which is pretty retarded...

before the wii u and 3ds there were a lot of consoles with a browser on it, and none of which was a entry point
talking about the sony consoles, or even xbox consoles, wii.. and in fact the 3ds only had a browser exploit very late...

having or not a browser has nothing with piracy capabilities, and i swear if nintendo will give it a browser, they pretty much covered all the holes related to previous hacks, so we will see other type of exploits..
ok maybe having a browser increases the changes of holes somwhere people can abuse it, but there is a load of other ways.
