you got an answer on your other topic. Dimok is not available since end of december, he won't answer you personally. (other users can answer, or you can try and see if it works).

To answer you here : yes, you can use Simple Signature Patcher to install and launch DLC or bad signed games. that's the purpose of this homebrew.

1. start Haxchi, and right when haxchi starts, keep B button pressed, until system menu reloads.
2. enter Mario kart 8 with DLC

if it doesn't work, you don't have haxchi updated. update it (reinstall the latest version, it will update! do not delete the old one)

or update the config file to boot to patcher automatically and return to menu and have Homebrew Launcher assigned to button B. This way you won`t need Gamepad all the time to play DLC.

Guys some questions:

- I can execute unsigned code using browserhax -> HBL -> sigpatch2sysmenu -> homebrew/game. But after leaving a VC game, for example, I'm back to the default sysmenu, right? I'm asking this because I get signature failure errors (actually it's a generic WiiU error) and I'm forced to shutdown the console holding the power button. With this I'm stuck to running browserhax after any game is closed? What about haxchi/CBHC? Does that patch my sysmenu permanently? I mean, not in the sense that the NAND/file system is patched, but I'm guaranteed to always be running a sigpatched sysmenu?

Since you didn't specify what VC game you're running, I'll take the simple answer and tell you that any Wii VC game reboots the system, so after running one of those, you have to reload your patches.

CBHC doesn't apply the patches permanently, but it does trigger the loading of the patches at each startup, which would avoid the signature errors after vWii games. Haxchi and Mocha reapply the patches after events like exiting the settings menu, but they can't work around the kind of restart that Wii mode triggers.

I'm playing donkey Kong country currently, but I've experienced the same behavior after closing hbl without triggering sigpatch2sysmenu for the second time.

For some reason github won't let me download it. Can someone upload the HBL version for me somewhere else? :)

This might be a dumb question but I didn't understand sig patch very well
I successfully installed some DLCs and VC games using sig patcher (HBC->SigPatch->WiiU Menu->HBC->WUP installer) I don't have Haxchi installed
Whenever I turn on the Wii U it says my DLCs and VCs are corrupted : I'm forced to delete them and reinstall
Did I do something wrong ? Do I have to run something everytime I want to play a game where a DLC is installed ?

Yes,you need to run a sigpatcher every time you run something with a fake ticket.
DLC that you didn't buy have fake tickets, so you need to run sigpatcher everytime before running the game

Hello, I need help getting this to work, I installed Twilight Princess HD JPN using WUP installer and then I ran this Sigpatcher using the HBL it works
fine and I get sent to the Home menu but when I run the game it's in English! It doesn't make sense because I wouldn't think the JPN version would
have the English files, so I thought it wouldn't run at all. Anyone knows if there's something I'm missing? I see no options to change language in game.

Thanks for your help

You need to load a program called spiik you will find it here https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-spiik-region-language-changer.464126/ Start the homebrew launcher load spiik select language as Japanese and region to Japan the wiiu will reset then start twilight princess and it will be in japanese. Tested this myself and know it works.

Simple signature check patcher

Hey guys,

since most of the people only use iosuhax for the signature patches, I am actually quite surprised that there still was no such application as this one out there yet.

This application is a simple IOSU signature/hash/region and other checks patcher. It gives you the same ability as a custom firmware with signature patches except it does not require a custom fw.img on your SD card or anything else. This makes it perfectly shareable in contrary to a full fw.img.

What you can do if you use it is install custom channels like the HBL channel and launch those channels that would normally fail because of some signature checks. Additional to that this does not require to make a full OS relaunch with a fw.img and therefore it loads much faster then the full custom fw.img. The version that just goes back to HBL is actually very fast.

What you don't get with this compared to a full custom fw.img is a wupserver or libiosuhax /dev node. You can't use wupclient or ftpiiu everywhere with this. It could probably be extended in the future, especially the /dev node part is quite easy to add/modify, but for now it is a simple signature check patcher.

The following signature checks are all patched out by this (which is equivalent to a custom fw.img):
  • cert verification
  • cached cert check
  • MCP authentication check
  • public key verification check
  • bootLogoTex and bootMovie.h264 check
  • region title launch check

Here is a compiled version that will return to system menu (not os full relaunch) and one that returns to HBL directly after all patches are installed:
https://github.com/dimok789/sign_patcher/releases/tag/v0.1

Because this does not execute a full relaunch you don't loose HBL in Mii Maker channel and you can still continue to use it. Also if you enter the settings and exit, the installer and all the iosu patches are gone and you are back in the original fw.img with no patches. The downside is that ios usb is quite messed up by the iosu exploit and might have some sideeffects without the full os relaunch, though I did not see any of those during my tests. I could install HBL to USB and run it just fine.

The sources can be found here:
https://github.com/dimok789/sign_patcher.git

This is just a quick hack together of some available stuff in some other form and is meant for fast launching without a fw.img. Its not very clean and nice but it was quite usefull to me during some tests and I though it would be usefull to others as well, so here it is.

So does this mean that I can launch the homebrew launcher from the home screen without having to go to loadiine and launching fw.img first?

It means you could run this instead of cfwboot/fw.img, but the developer has long since replaced SSP with Mocha. Be it fw.img, SSP, Mocha, or Haxchi/CBHC, you have to run some kind of signature patcher before you run the Homebrew Launcher Channel.

(for the future, please just highlight the necessary part of a post and hit reply or quote+ on the pop-up. You don't have to quote the whole OP.)

Oh! okay and thanks!
How long do you think it will be until we can do something similar to haxchi but without a DS VC (or the need for any game at that)

Similar to haxchi? Don't hold your breath. Here's what makes the DS VC special:
the Nintendo DS virtual console app was selected for this exploit because it has the ability to dynamically emit executable code. as a nice bonus, hachihachi includes symbols for its code. haxchi exploits a bug in the emulator's rom loader, and basically gets it to perform arbitrary memcpy operations.
With those points making it easier to develop, combined with the speed at which the title reaches the exploited code, there might not be a better fit. The DS titles weren't chosen by accident, and if something similar but free were available, it probably would have surfaced by now.

As for not needing any game, finding a content hack for the system menu might be possible, but I doubt you'd find people installing it until we have bulletproof hardmod NAND backup and restore. From a different angle, I'm sure people are still working on getting Boot1 access.

Right now, finding $10 to buy a game would probably be easier on you than waiting for a free solution. Until then, just load up the titles that have disc tickets available so you don't need signature patching to play. It's not like you'll need to load new games every day, so you'll only be running the exploit when you add them.
