Hi everyone . i am very excited with new one guide of plailect .
Before a long time i have had follow Plailect's 1st guide with aureinand for installing A9LH in my New 3ds XL (my current fw 10.7.0-32E with a9lh) . Now i want to update it to newer version lua and A9LH but without lose my games and saves. I have the nand backups from 9.0.0 and sd files before a9lh installed and nand backup from 10.7.0 and sd files after a9lh installed . ( The most games i have installed after from a9lh installation )

The question is:I must follow the Plailect's quide from the start or i can bypass a few steps from the guide ?

Best regards George!
On the navbar of the guide, Pialect has included a section titled "Updated A9LH" for people in your exact situation. Try checking that out.

I wonder why we need to dump tickets and restoring them at the end of the process, when I restored my Nandmin.bin all my games are back so: Why we need that additional step ?

In case they don't show up, I guess?

I honestly just completely skipped the last few bits and updated straight from 2.1 since I have an o3DS and it was already formatted

Hey guys I'm about to make my own clean v11.2 ctrnand image collection. I removed the arm9loaderhax.bin and the config files from the ctrnand so it won't get packed with the image, is it okay to make one now or should I do a factory reset first? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Nevermind, found out to myself that I actually doesn't have to do a reset.

Hello gbatemp,
I have been a longtime visitor and always found this place to be incredibly helpful and full of quality information. Thank you all :)

As for my question, I have just bought my first New 3DS and am trying to install arm9. I am on 11.2.0.35 EU and followed the excellent Plailect tutorial all the way to the point of actually installing arm9. I did everything the tutorial says and made it to the point where you go to http://dukesrg.github.io/2xrsa.html?arm11.bin on your 3DS.
The error said "OTP.bin is missing or wrong size". I checked and there is no otp.bin on my memory card. I tried to google how to extract the otp.bin and all I found was a program called OTPhelper. However, I have no way of running it, as I am already downgraded to 2.1.0 and can't access Homebrew Launcher at the moment.

Can you please explain to me at which exact point (in the tutorial) should the otp.bin file be copied to the memory card? So I can at least understand where I made a mistake. And also, what are my options of getting my otp.bin? I have made a copy of my NAND if that helps.

I am currently in downgraded 2.1.0 limbo. Luckily I am able to turn the console off, as closing the lid and putting it in sleep mode is supposed to brick it.
Thank you very much for your help :)

Yeah the OTP for me was created after I used the browser part of the guide. I should just work for you too. Keep me updated.

I followed the guide on my Stock New 3DS XL running 11.2.0-35U last night and everything worked out great on the first try.
Now i'm gonna have to learn more about all the new things i can do and how to stay safe in regards to .cia and the eshop.
I'm running all my games on my Sky3DS+ with my own private header, but i'll probably get Pokémon sun/moon as .cia when i'm informed on everything that could get me banned first.

Anyways, great guide and easy to follow.
Glad i stumbled upon news that 11.2 was supported when i did :P
Thx for all the work!

Hi there,

I have a question regarding cluster size for sdxc card.
I look forward to equip my N3DS XL (fw 9.4 (something) North American (US) version) with A9LH and Luma,
following your (Plailects) guide. (I didn't do anything with the 3DS yet, because when I got it I already planned to install CFW on it, so it's basically "virgin".)
I read the guide a couple times and I don't think I'll have any issues (I can follow instructions ), unless something totally weird will happen. Anyways ...
I'm just waiting for my micro sdxc card to arrive (ordered a Samsung Pro Plus 128Gb card on ebay, which is supposed to be a pretty fast one - capable of 4k video recording, as well as fast read speeds).
The speed of the sd card shouldn't slow anything down, but maybe the size (128Gb) requires the 3DS to do more scanning/reading, which could slow down things. But that's totally fine with me, as long as everything works.
Unfortunately the sd card is still not here, even I ordered (and payed) it December 15th.
Hopefully I'll get it soon ...

Sorry for the long writing. And I write some more ... my apologies.

Before ordering the sd card I checked, what size I could use in the N3DS, and found information, that people use 64Gb, 128Gb and even bigger ones.
But I read too, to make cards 64Gb and bigger work properly, you should format them with 64k cluster size.
If you format those bigger cards with 32k cluster size it could lead to issues, but with 64k everything should be fine.

On first page of 3ds.guide it's stated to format sd card 32k cluster size (of course fat32, mbr).
In the FAQs it's just said, that using 128Gb and bigger card could lead to slow down ...

So - finally the question - what should I do with my 128Gb card (if it arrives as long as I'm still alive) ?
32k or 64k cluster ?

Again sorry for writing that much (and that's my first post here , but I'm following gbatemp quite a long time already).

Thanks for any answers - much appreciated.

I actually just upgraded my sdcard from a 32gb SanDisk to a 128gb SanDisk Ultra I also used the 32k cluster size when I formatted only noticeable slow down was on cold boot and when I boot Decrypt9 or Godmode9 (any a9lh payload) im guessing it from the hacks trying to read such a big card but other than those no noticeable change in in-game saving or anything. Cold boot takes my N3ds 13 secs. with the 128gb card.

Thank you for the quick reply.

So obviously 32k cluster size should/will work.

I was just wondering, what the consens for the large sd cards is ...

When I was checking about sd card size, 64k cluster was recommended (for 64Gb+).

Does anybody know, if it makes a difference - 32k vs 64k ?
Any advantages of one over the other ?

I really don't have any idea why the guide stated that we should use 32kb cluster size, I've been using 64kb cluster size since forever. But yeah, you should follow the guide if you're new.

64kb cluster size will be faster than 32kb.

For sure I'll follow the guide for setting up my 3DS. Way easier than trying to figure out something myself/or use any not trustworthy guides.
But things like preparing the sd card - I would like to use the best possible solution.
That's why I try to figure out (ask) what's better - to use 32k or 64k. To have everything running flawless ...

Think of it as boxes.

If you format an sd card with 64kb cluster size, your sd card will be divided into boxes that can fit 64kb of data in each box. In a 64GB sd card, it will be divided into 1,000,000 boxes. Now if we format it with only 32kb cluster size, the sd card will be divided into 2,000,000 boxes.

Imagine if you placed a file with the size of 128kb inside the sd card. In a 64kb cluster size sd card, it will divide the file into two boxes only. But in a 32kb cluster size sd card, it will divide the file into 4 boxes. Ideally, it is faster to read lesser boxes.

PS. Sincere apology for the lack of grammatical correctness in the structure of my sentence.
