So Mario comes to the iPhone. YES !!!
It's time for Nintendo to show these small time smartphone gaming companies how a REAL gaming company does business. It is the dawn of a new era - Nintendo IP on smartphones !!!
It would seem the Nintendo minds that came up with decisions such as "Let's go after Let's Play YouTubers" and the entire WiiU (include: name, a game controller with a non-capacitive touch screen and a crappy battery, and a failed launch where even the menus were slow) have had too much say on Super Mario Run. I downloaded and played it this morning. iTunes reported the game was free. Bonus !
So I downloaded and installed Super Mario Run. I'm ready to play.
Oh Wait. I guess not. The game hasn't even started and I'm downloading again.
Mood Killer #1.
The game finally starts. Mario automatically running makes the levels crazy short. And those things that make you stick are annoying. Mario jumping over every small thing is even lamer. Game play = Mood Killer #2. Anyway, lame gameplay aside, I finish all three levels in 0.5 to 5 min of gameplay, I didn't have a timer running. (short demo = Mood Killer #3.)
I guess those some 200 seconds of work has got me to a boss level already. Wow. I'm good.
What ?
I've been playing for seemingly zero time, and I'm being prompted to buy ? I don't know if this quirky Mario game is even worth free play, let alone paying. (Mood Killer #4).
Gotta get to work.
Can't play offline ! (MK#5).
OK. I'll buy this. I got more money than time anyway.
$14 Canadian ?
lolwut.
I guess I'm not buying. I can almost get a coffee at Starbucks for that !
I've played for a total of 200 seconds. And now $14 ?
Nintendo, you are not a deal maker are you ?
Mood Killer #6.
So I go from "It's happening Shigeru Miyamoto" to Mood Killing / Can't be bothered to buy in 4 days ?
Is Super Mario Run good ?
I've played it. And in the 200 seconds I played it, I don't know.
Nintendo is clearly blazing a new trail here. 200 second demos for $14 games.
Of course the trail leads off a cliff ... to the bottom of an abyss we all know the name of:
Always.
Back to Clash Royale I guess. MEH.
