I have been crazy excited to buy the switch. I'm a ninty fanboy and proud of it. I grew up playing nintendo. But I also love my xbox, playstation, and gaming pc. I never understood the whole idea that if you like one, you hate the other.
I really only see one game on the line up that I want to play. I have always been a Zelda fan. it's why I bought the Wii U. Well, now that the Switch is sold out everywhere, I am just going to buy BOTW for the Wii U, And later on when the switch comes down a little on the price, and when more games that I like are released, I'll buy it and BOTHW for it and play it again.

Idk where else to post this.

Hate to say it, but I think dual screen gaming is gone for good, even for the future. It just takes too much resources form the heavier games and I don't see a standalone handheld separated from the Switch line happening.

This is probably the correct place to post it.

Well, if this truly is the replacement for the 3DS yes duel screen may be dead.

Charging for the online and giving away emulator roms? This is going to flop hard. The least they could do was give away wii u titles monthly.

Lol if it was going to be $20 a month, maybe. No doubt the service will be just as cheap, if not cheaper, than MS'/Sony's.

Personally as someone who would bring their Wii U over to people's houses to play Smash 4 and other games... I'm excited for the switch and it's portability aspect. It'll be so much more easy to carry over to other people's houses/apartments.

I see the Switch as the replacement for both 3DS and Wii U. They say it isn't, but this is expected as they shouldn't just publicly announce they are abandoning their current hardware. If this thing sells well, and I think it will, it will take the place of both.

As such, I predict it will have way more games than the Wii U has, and a install base at least comparable to the 3DS (say between 75% and 300% of it).

I think it is priced right. Products cost more when they are new. I can certainly see that in 2 or 3 years the MSRP may be 300 but including a game. Separate accessories are expensive. this is not an excuse for Nintendo, which as every company should charge what is of their best interest, but controllers are always a rip-off (for the same reason many restaurants advertise cheap food but have high margins on the drinks). Still today an original Dualshock 3 costs around 50 dollars in the US.

There are indeed missed opportunities. But for almost all of them, I can see some reasoning. For example, there are only 32GB of storage because not everyone needs more. Yes, it is ARM which is not used on PC/PS4/XBONE, but that was a choice made perhaps even 3 years ago. Yes, all Joy-Cons have many features which will likely be underutilized, but this way they don't split the install base. Yes, launch is not perfect, but would you rather wait?

People complain about its hardware power. For what I know, no one here really knows. From what I've seem, it looks just right for the games. Remember the hardware should be thought from the portable point-of-view too, as there are some power barriers. I don't think if it would be more profitable for them if it was 400$ and was more powerful.

I see many exciting games. I actually like 1-2-Switch more than TLOZ:BOTW, as I imagine myself having fun with friends. I really want to milk the cow, and there appear to be dozens of minigames, many of them really interesting. There aren't that many games at launch per se, and have an average output for the first year, but it has the potential to have the future 3DS and Wii U games, so I guess we should wait and see.

I don't like to pay for online (I have PC/PS3/3DS and never did), so I could perhaps stay offline, depending on the pricing.

Finally, the Switch looks an amazing piece of equipment and will have worthy games to play on, and I would love to have one. I would like it because:
1) can be used as handheld
2) can be used as home console
3) 1-2-Switch looks great for parties
And that would make, even with the current prices (around $300 each), the Switch preferable to my eyes over PS4 or XBONE.

That said, since I already have a big backlog (of hundred of hours of gaming) and pretty much stay one generation behind (because the games are very expensive when new), I probably won't get it until 2019 or later, although I would really hope a friend of mine buys one with 1-2-Switch and invites me to milk the cows.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

if it's a replacement for the 3ds it should at least have a better battery :creep:
Sure it is a better battery.
Probably 3 or 4 times the mAH capacity if it can really make the more power hungry system last around the same amount of time.

PS: Also I think we all consider the 3DS a replacement of the DS, but the battery life is not even near to the 19 hours of the DS Lite.

O3DS is 3 to 5 hours, so actually worse than Switch on the high end, which is 2.5 to 6 hours. N3DS is also only 3.5 to 6 hours. Considering the difference in resolution and graphics settings, I'm surprised the battery life isn't a lot worse.
