*looks at eerie similarity of Ez's OSD and Gateway's*
It would really be nice to see a flashcard team break the spell of cloning gateway's firmware for just once.

If someone would make an open source flashcard I think it would sell shitloads and the homebrew dev community would support it with open arms.

That is literally the gateway font and rom selector menu.... inb4 bricking season starts again.
Well, the ez-Flash team is not tied to the Supercard Team, if you see what i mean. ;)
The GW team will see by themself if it's a dump of their Launcher or not.

Edit : Btw Norm, you know how to reach the Ez Team and ask them by yourself.

Hi there.
The team has released the 1.0 version of EZ-Flash Redux : Launcher 1.0
Filetrip mirror

You can find all the instructions you need in the pdf file.
Usage of EZ-FLASH REDUX

Preparation

using A9LH exploit
1. copy game roms to the microsd and plug in to EZ-FLASH REDUX card
2. copy launcher.dat and luma folder to the root of internal SD.
3. rename the down_ezr.bin in luma\payloads folder to KEY_YOU_WANNA_TO_PRESS_ezr.bin or leave it be. for example : left_ezr.bin.
4. hold the key which you set in previous step and power up the console, default key is DOWN if you skipped the previous step, the A9LH will load the launcher and inject it.

using 414 exploit
1. copy game roms to the microsd and plug in to EZ-FLASH REDUX card
2. copy launcher.dat to the root of internal SD.
3. use the 414 exploit to boot the launcher.

Enjoy

From MaxConsole:

Unlike Gateway, which stores saves on the 3DS's internal SD card, the EZR creates saves on the MicroSD inside its own cartridge, which is great because it doesn't make confusingly named files on the root of your 3DS card. It creates saves with the name of the ROM and .sav as it's extension, which keeps everything nice and organized.

This is enough to make me want one. I have three 3DS's and I hate the fact that each console has it's own set of saves, be it games installed to the console's SD (even though this is obviously expected) or, even more annoyingly, those played via a flash cart. While one can move those saves from console to console it is not exactly convenient to do so.

Even though all of my 3DS's have Luma via A9LH and I have a GW, that convenience would make it well worth it to me to add this cart to my collection. Also, NTR support is cool as well, but I'd like to see something like GW's cheat system (which is far nicer to use). I'd would like to know if their implementation breaks DS(i) functionality like GW does. If it doesn't and they can add a freezer/peeker/poker (again, like GW's cheat system), I'll totally be picking one of these up and likely shelving my GW. If they could DS2+ DS/3DS hybrid functionality that would be awesome as well and send my DS flash carts to their boxes to collect dust or be sold.

The OSD may look like GW's (really though, how else would you do it?); but the EZFR clearly does have some unique properties. Flash cartridges have and always will have similarities, the same way GUI based OS's do... It's inevitable; icons and windows, for example, are a good way to do things. Until someone can crack the 3DS cartridge protocol and make GBA, DS, etc style carts that do not rely on CFW (edit: or a hardware button) I suspect every 3DS flash cart will probably be considered a Sky or GW clone... But that is no reason to write off new offerings like most people seem to.

MT-Card had the same feature and it's a GW clone.

I had never heard as much. In fact GBAtemp's review said the opposite.
Like its predecessors there's a slight delay when launching a game but this is due to the MT-Card taking a couple seconds in order to load your save from the 3DS' SD card.

Did that change at some point or was the review inaccurate? Did they get around the physical button to switch games nonsense (exactly why I don 't own a Sky3DS, I carry way too many titles on my SD to mess w/ that crap)?

GW clone or not, back in the "early" days of 3DS flash carts, had those two things been implemented, I might have picked one up... Won't bother now because of obvious reasons to anyone on this forum that's been watching the 3DS scene since then.

How much did they go for BTW, were they significantly cheaper or anything? Can't say I payed much attention to the cart after the review, but now I am a little curious. I mean, if they started saving to the cart's SD rather than the 3DS' SD then at some point it sounds like they started writing their own code and not just re-skinning GW's.

They changed to a gateway-like (but slightly modified) multirom menu a bit after gateway did. They had a few exclusive features (rom selection in the flascard menu, savegame editor).
