Hacking Sky3ds+ 7 reasons why I will wait for next firmware.

Are you keeping your sky3ds+ card even if you install cfw?

I haven't moved on to anything. Im gathering all the information i can before i decide on wether the risk is worth it. Everybody loves to just parrot the guide on every post as if that guide completely migrated you from sky3ds+ to cfw. I have read the entire guide there is alot left unsaid.

Do you have the brain power necessary to understand and comprehend written text, and follow the Holy Guide at all times and never stray from it. You do? Congrats, you just hacked your 3DS. OR ... You don't? Then it's not worth it.

I don't understand what you mean by a risk when there's no risk to begin with. Okay okay, technically there is a risk, but it is so slim that it might as well not exist. Sure as hell it's not 20% risk of brick like you initially claimed. Literally ALL of the bricks reported on this forum for the past month (or hell, perhaps ever?) have been user-end errors and 99% of them have been because they can't do something as simple as read a guide and follow the damn guide. Like if people think formatting a 2DS on 2.1 is a good idea because they can't install A9LH for some reason despite the guide telling you to not do it .. they deserved to get bricked.

So you are saying it works 100 percent of the time unless you do something wrong. There's 0 chance if i follow the guide 100 percent.?

Well I'm not gonna say that because I don't want to be held responsible. Even the 3DS Guide says this:

  • Before beginning the guide, you must know the risks of 3DS hacking: EVERY time you modify your system, there is always the potential for an UNRECOVERABLE brick. They’re rare, but still a possibility so make sure you follow ALL directions EXACTLY.
However I've personally never read about a brick on this forum that wasn't the fault of an user. I've heard that there were rare bricks in the past with the OPTLess method of A9LH install, but now that we moved back to the OTP install I'd like to imagine with the odds of greater than 99.99% you will be safe, provided you follow the guide and have an SD card that you HAVE CHECKED for errors (as the guide tells you to) before using it. If by some rotten luck your A9LH file just happened to be on the portion of the drive where it's corrupted then it'd be gg.

And of course as @Quantumcat said, if your power fails while writing to NAND or something as ridiculously unlikely as that, then it'd also brick. But what are the odds eh? You might as well never go outside anymore because I mean .. you could be hit by a car .. you could be hit by lightning .. etc

Exactly. Excluding things like getting a power surge while writing to the NAND with your console plugged in to the wall or your SD card randomly deciding to die at a very precise time despite you testing it (incredibly unlikely). Until recently there was a tool that installed a9lh a bit faster but had a very slim chance of causing a brick through no fault of the user (there were maybe 4 or 5 confirmed cases in total). This meant that tool was removed from the guide.

And it can be removed 100 percent and go back to what i have if i don't like it for whatever reason?

Sky3DS doesn't look like it's going to get updated, I would give up on that. If you don't want to risk downgrading your firmware for A9LH, sell your 3DS and Sky3DS card and use the money to buy a 3DS with an exploitable firmware version and install Menuhax and Luma, they have zero chance of bricking your 3DS.

All firmwares are exploitable. Menuhax [via bannerhax] is just a little more awkward on 11.2

Well i am a noob but i managed to extract a private header from my own game and it works on all my games.
umm,what?
how to you even managed to extract the headers from you own game without getting the files extracting the game file (that you have to be on CFW to do it in the first place)?

Powersaves and decrypt9 don't require cfw
