They are Qualcomm's own charging standards for their chipsets only and isn't part of the USB standard. My only point is that USB chargers can provide a higher voltage, but that the chargers that can are designed to only do so with compatible devices.
Right, that's it. I forget since I've not encountered it in the wild yet. Maybe it will matter if the switch has a USB charger for mobile use.

Sometimes in El Tianguis por mi casa sells broken DSi/3DS chargers.
Next time I see one I'll make me one of these.

And, I HIGHLY suggest you to solder those cables, they'll last longer, the tape wont burn, and i'll be safer is you use Cold silicon or that gun-like thing that melts bars of silicon to encase the soldering.

Why spend money on expensive tape? Just cut the wires different lengths and twist them together.

Just screwing around, i was shocked reading this tutorial. I DO recommend to solder and use shrinkwrap!
(no.. just buy the usb cable for a dollar, seriously!)

Reminds me of the tutorial on forcing a USB mini into the charging port, how I lol'ed.........and then by some bizarre freak event I actually ended up using the trick to test a console before I bought it as they had no charger and it was a really good deal so I just figured it was worth doing in a pinch

But sure, buying a cable is a better suggestion or at least properly soldering or taping it all securely.....but meh I have been there before so these kinds of botchy half assed jobs can be handy under the right circumstances

So Yeah one day you may be kidnapped and locked in a room with a broken 3ds charger, a flat 3ds, a random phone charger and a wifi password, if only you knew this method to power up your 3ds and reach out for help :ninja:

When you mention GBA, please keep in mind the original GBA is rated at 3.3v.
Both GBA SP and Micro are rated 5.2v.

I don't recommend doing this for the original GBA.
SP, Micro are fine.

the original GBA didn't have a charging port, it took normal AA batteries :P
