On the DS, does it automatically click past the health and safety for you?
That kind of card firmware never was compatible with DSi (since a few months, a DSiware homebrew allows those cards to work, but only the 3DS has been hacked to the point of being able to install unsigned DSiware)
They're not updateable either, as the firmware is not on a rewriteable chip (which is a good thing - nobody had their original R4 get corrupted and unbootable, unlike action replays or r4isdhc.com cards)

I didn't know they made an MSU cart for the Genesis.... I knew about the SNES one and the library for that is rather large but the Genesis one has very few games+1

An FPGA could probably replicate the chip's functionality without buying donor parts.+1
