Hacking N64 VC recompiling errors

I have a modified N64 VC (Super Smash Bros.) that gives me an error (~~199-9999~~ New error: error in software data, restart system and delete game) when run with signature patches. What causes this?

I've edited a few things, including meta banners/meta.xml for game title (they do work on the Wii U menu), the ROM, and one of the config files (to change the manual link)

If possible, could you share with me the exact steps you took when creating your modified? I'd like to trace your steps to see if I get the same problem.

Get a SSB ROM (US)
Hex edit a byte (E to J, allowing it to load a config file for the JP version of the game)
Convert ROM to file format used in VC
put in ROM folder in decompiled (Loadiine format kind of thing) VC (tried Majora's Mask, Excitebike 64, 1080 Snowboarding)
Edit config file for SSB JP to change manual PDF link
Replace tga files in meta folder with custom ones (used tgaverify on them)
Edit meta.xml and change game title
Use NUSPacker to repack the game (with common key)

I would be... if they'd work!

I know it's possible, I've downloaded ones off that Wii U-relevant ISO site, they just had crappy banners. I'd prefer to make my own, but nothing works.

The issue seems to lie in the meta folder, I'm guessing - it boots fine when the meta files are kept the same as 1080 Snowboarding.

So it works fine, just has issues with either icon or name edits. Strange...

It was the tga files. They're very specific on how it needs to be saved. I did get it to work, though!

one question if you have 1080 snowboarding and then the ssb inject both intalled on sysnand dont the saves override each others?

It would, in most cases, but if you change the title ID of the inject (like I did) then both can be installed.
