------------------

update:

I followed Luma3DS/wiki/FAQ-and-troubleshooting to install NS.cia and the appropriate Home Menu cia, and I also got black screen.
I tried to enter safe mode to update, wow it can boot !
BUT the A9LH has been covered ...

update again :

although it show "Ver 11.2",but I can enter luma menu.
I confirm "show 'sys' " is been chosen.

help here
first time i see this error in red while installing on N3DSXL
"payload_stage1.bin doesn't exist or exceeds max size"
i already put the files of data input in a9lh folder (firm0.bin,firm0_100.bin,firm1.bin,secret_sector.bin)

but it still gives me that error, but when i checked the SD card i found the otp.bin file in that place 256 bytes.

should i proceed?

i am on 2.1 right now.

edit:okey, forgot to add the files from release.7z ,i should clean my glasses .

Hi guys, I posted this a while back but as it was the last post on the page I think many people missed it.

I installed luma3ds, but I'm stumped at the very last step (following Plailect's guide). Basically, I've got every working except for the Section VII Installing Tickets. After injecting the hs.app back, the FBI has been replaced by the Health and Safety again, so I cannot go to SD and select anymore files.

As I downgraded from 9.4 originally on an O3DS, I had to do the backup tickets thing, so I know I have tickets to restore (I'm not actually quite sure what these tickets are meant to be as all my downloaded games and system settings are as before I installed luma). Can anyone shed some light on this?

During installing I did accidentally skip 2 steps (I forgot to copy the aeskeydb.bin and DspDump.3dsx to their designated folders) but I found out about it when I was trying to select the Dsp Dump from the homebrew screen on Section VI and quickly inserted both files to the right folders. Would these have made a difference as to why I have the default Health& Safety instead of the FBI?

Ok guys, I need help one last time. Currently attempting to get Luma going on the 2DS.
Right now I have sysNAND on 6.0.0 w/DS profile exploit to launch rxTools. I need to update my sys to 9.0.0, but I want to first backup the sysNAND.
I already have FBI and sysUpdater installed. Have the 9.0.0 update files on the SD card and ready to update sysNAND.

Where I am stuck is trying to backup the sysNAND. I ran the utility from the rxTools menu to backup the sys, but it seems stuck.
I know it takes a while (I've backed it up before over a year ago). Currently backup process has been running for 4-5hrs and still not completed.

Can't use the browser to load payload, and it appears that the Ninjhax for FWs lower than 9.0 have been taken down.
How else am I going to run Homebrew Launcher so I can launch the MSET installer to change the DS profile payload?

If you have a cartridge with the 9.2 update update to 9.2 use decrypt9 when on 9.2

I think it doesnt make a difference now

Edit: I do not understand why the Ninjhax for firmwares below 9.0 was removed from the site. Some of us might still need to use it.

I do not have a cartridge with 9.0-9.2, so I will have use sysUpdater.
And I am trying to backup my current sysNAND on 6.0 before trying to update in case it bricks.
This 2DS was downgraded back when things were still sketchy, and the browser no longer works. I'm nervous that it will brick if I do not do a FULL update to 9.0. Cart updates won't provide that.

PlaiSysUpdater is very safe i never did a nand backup before down/upgrading when i used it

My concern is not with the program, but rather the system it is being used on. And the things I had to do to it before (over a year ago) to get it to downgrade.
I've used the program before. I just need to find a way to load HBL so I can make a backup with decrypt9. No sense in taking risk of a brick when a backup can be made, no?
Would be much easier if I could just load Ninjhax.

Does anyone know if the payload is still up on Smea's github, or is it completely gone? If it's still up, all I need to do is find the QR code to scan.

smealum's website is down and he said he's not really interested in fixing it. there's hardly a use for ninjhax 1.x now.

not to mention that if you can use ninjhax 1.x, you can just use the browser and Decrypt9 through that (you said you can't, but have you tried all the possible URLs?). or that you don't really need to go to 9.2 either, since you'd be able to start doing a9lh easily on the version you're on

You can only use the hax payloads from 9.x up to 11.x

Ok, so I dug around till I found a QR code for Ninjhax on OLD 6.0.0-12U. I can confirm that it is down. Endless loading after scanning the code since the source is gone.

That explains it. I know he probably has other things he'd like work on, but I wish he'd reconsider. Some of us might need the exploit.

The issue is, the browser will not even launch. It crashes immediately. Bunch of stuff happened when I attempted to downgrade it, back when downgrading was still in early stages.

I am unsure if I am misunderstanding your point. Sure, I could force onward and update the FW to 9.0, but I still will not have a proper sysNAND backup in case of failure.
Are you implying that there is another way? I could use the MSET exploit, however there is no way to change the payload from the current rxTools to the decrypt9 payload.
I still need a way to launch HBL so I can run the installer to change the MSET to load decrypt9.

if you can't use the browser, then I don't know if you will be able to use ninjhax 1.x too, as it depends on the browser.

do you have a DS flash cart? if so, you can use mset (DS profile exploit) for everything instead of the browser/ninjhax.

Oh? I was not aware of that. I thought it downloaded directly within CubicNinja game after being pointed to the correct source via the QR code.
Mine still worked on my system after everything that was done. But I had to load a different version of Ninjhax to fix a friends system. Never should have deleted the 6.0 exploit I had.

Unfortunately, I do not own a DS flash cart. If I can not find another way, I may have to resort to getting one.

Here is a idea to attempt a way around... I can still boot rxTools and my emuNAND, and I can boot into sysNAND with rxTools patched.
What if I install the HBL cia on my sysNAND, then launch it from there to run decrypt9?
My only concern is that running HBL from here will not allow decrypt9 to make a proper backup. That or having HBL installed on sys might cause an issue with the update to 9.0

you can't use hbl on sysnand except with ninjhax 1.x. so it's not really worth trying.

what version of rxtools are you using?

Well turd on a stick. That stinks.

3.0 beta 2. The last release, that I am aware of. Thing is, I've made a backup with it before. I remember thinking it froze on me way back then, but it eventually completed. Not the case this time I'm afraid. 5+hrs

might be a crappy workaround, but try copying Decrypt9WIP.dat to the root, and copy it to rxTools/sys/code.bin (delete the existing one, rename the new one to code.bin).

if it gets into Decrypt9, then I would highly recommend starting at https://3ds.guide/2.1.0-ctrtransfer (includes backup and going to 2.1 for a9lh), since updating to 9.2 is not really recommended anymore. but that's your choice.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly I tried that already and it did not work. Did a mix-n-match with other files too trying to get it to work. No go.

I am actually not going to run A9LH. Been running menuhax w/autoboot on my N3DS with great success so far. I see no reason to use A9LH as long as this works fine.
There is a good reason why I am not going to use A9LH for now. A private concern (or salvation) I do not wish to post publicly.
Additionally, until more is understood why people are getting random bricks, I feel safer with menuhax. No reason to change what still works. Just my opinion.

Only risk I see is if someone removes the SD card, otherwise it autoboots HBL (in all conditions, even after crash, enter/leave Sysytem Settings in emuNAND, or reboot). No one knows my button combo to boot sysNAND, so the only way they are going to do any damage is to remove the SD card and get into sys. Even then, I have parental blocks up to lock access to everything. LoL it works, ok? :P

I still honestly don't see why you don't want a9lh, given you're on a good firmware to do that and there are no major downsides, and it's easier and better to go with it than trying to update to 9.2 for something less. but okay then.

these random bricks mostly happened with otpless, which were on New 3DS. it was removed from the guide and replaced with the older 2.1.0 ctrtransfer which is much better.

if you still insist on not doing a9lh, you can still do a 9.2.0 ctrtransfer.

As I mentioned previously, I have a personal reason to stay on menuhax. Something I could say in a PM, but not publicly. However.. I admit I'm not 100% certain my assumption on this matter is correct.
To add to that, I have a logical way of analyzing my position with exploits like these. I would rather stay on a lower FW to maintain the ability to use multiple exploits should something go wrong.
A fact of my previous experiences that makes me feel this way now.

On 9.0 you have quite a few exploits available to use. I never use sysNAND, so I see no reason to update it.
Unless I am missing something big, there is little reason to use A9LH over another previous exploit, other than slight time convenience (which is very minimal with menuhax).
For me, the only function of the exploit is to launch HBL and the CFW of choice. And as long as the CFW is able to update to the latest official FW, what other advantage is there?

I am not trying to pick a fight, so don't misunderstand my intentions. Simply stating my position and reasoning.

Edit: I've finally made it to 100 mssgs. ___________________...woot
