Hi again

Im just checking im correct, read the instructions throughouhly and has experience modding consoles before. As I said earlier Im sitting at new 3ds xl 9.6.
The ideal way if i got everything right is to: First install the (Homebrewlauncher (No browser) ) Any differences with or without? there is no indication. 2. Then ill downgrade to 9.2fw 3. Decrypt9 4. 2.1.0 .5 install arm9 and Luma.

Im just checking with you guys since theres many steps and that I got everything right. :)

That is indeed correct, if you get browser nag essentially no browser, if your browser isn't with a nag, browser.

So if I understood you correctly no browser incase the browser version is nagging?
Misinpreted you i think

Thanks alot for the amazing help andreplies, im very grateful!

If it wasnt for you I would probably missed the arm9 hack which would be a damn shame if I had updated to 11.2 earlier, so thank you once again.
Hope you dont mind me asking, its alot of steps and I certainly dont want to brick my new console, so im just making sure.

That is correct yeah, if anything if you get the nag, its best just to use no browser method as it saves you less time messing around.

You're welcome!~ You would be missing out on a lot of features with vanilla/stock firmware :P Its fine, this is the 3ds noob paradise after all ask to your heart galore, ideally in the same post ofc. You can PM me as well if you like to not clutter here, more direct too. I understand you being hasty, i was the same when i first installed it (when it was technically not as safe as it is now)

Looking to grab a DS flashcart for my luma N3DS. I already have a micro SDHC to use.

I tried to answer this myself going over nds-cart but I am overwhelmed by choice. Is there a best option for my situation?

Thanks for any help.

I am planning on a9lhing my n3dsxl. I'm looking to have a a9lh + (autoboot) emuNAND setup, with sysNAND staying at 9.2.0.

Will following the guide and skipping just the 'Go to settings and update system version to latest' step be sufficient? I have my console already at 9.2.0 at the moment, so when I restore the NANDmin.bin it should return to 9.2.0+a9lh.

Can skipping the update step cause any chance of brick or any other unforseen complications?

Just follow the guide until you get to the update to the latest version step. Don't update and I'll PM you a zip with the files needed to achieve such state.

Why do you want to skip updating? With a9lh, it's safe to update your sysNAND. If you want to make an emuNAND, a9lh lets you do that even on the latest system version. Just download the latest release of EmuNAND9, put the .bin file in the luma/payloads folder, rename it to something like y_Emu9.bin. When you have a9lh set up, boot into emuNAND9 by pressing and holding Y when you boot your system and follow the menus to create an emuNAND9. Don't forget to unlink your NANDs.

There is no chance of a brick leaving a system un-updated, but why do you not want to update?
Which is this guy? (you don't have to reply if I got it right) http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149

Thank you!
No, that's the R4i Gold 3DS RTS. I know because I have one of those myself.

I'll just my way here. Use BootCTR9 and configure it to boot Luma3DS by default and configure Luma3DS to boot into EmuNAND by default. PM me if you need help configuring it.

Would you consider it to work best for BW/BW2? If there is any other superior ones mainly for those games id be ideally wanting to get one
I've played BW/BW2 on it several times and I've had absolutely no issues running either sets of games, they run perfectly smooth, just like a physical cart in a 3DS or a DS. I haven't personally tried out any other flashcards to test this.

I realise I can probably find most of the answers to my questions in the forum somewhere but I'm asking again as I want to "gauge" opinion on my options etc.

Until earlier today I owned 2 x (Old) 3DS (both lowish 4.5 or something). One has a Gateway card and I've got the Zelda games on etc and also used it to install cia tool (Big Blue it's called or something like that) and have some CIAs installed such as Gameyob and some VC titles. The other (Old) 3DS was my "upgrade" from a DSi simply to play DS games (I really don't like the cross controller pad thingy and wanted a 3DS to play DS games with the circle pad, much more "user friendly IMO) and I have DSTwo card installed with sevral .ds roms and some emus etc, plus the "extra" bits DSTwo runs such as the enhanced emus.

Today, on a whim really, I bought a (New) 3DS, mainly because it was A) Cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else (although I've not exactly been looking if you catch my drift) and B) It was in Sainsburys so I could use my Nectar reward points which I haven't used in an eternity (they actually paid for all of it!)

Now part of me wanted a (New) 3Ds for two reasons. A) I like JRPGs and fancy playing Xenoblade Chronicles and B) I like emulators and well they're a lot better on the (New) 3DS right?

So what I want at the end of the day is a 3DS which can play .ds games, 3DS games and fancy emualtors such as Retroarch (ergo the New 3DS). I'm not anticipating this happening all on one 3DS, presumably I'd be best off keeping the old one with DSTwo for .ds games and then the new 3DS softmodded/haxed/whatever to play cias of games and emus etc?

I can be techy if needs be but I'd prefer a relatively straightforward mod system for the new 3DS, like I say something to run Retroarch and other new 3DS enhanced emus/homebrew plus play cias of games etc. So any sensible recommendations for this scenario? Like I say I can be techy but I'd prefer straightforward and "all round" if you know what I mean. I have cracked systems and software in the past but it's been a while C64/Atari ST/Amiga/etc.

One other thing is is my old 3DS with Gateway can't install and play VC GBA games (Minish Cap etc), would I be able to do this with a haxxed New 3DS? Alos I bought a 32gb MicroSDHC for the new system, that's right for the max yes?

What "setup" would you go for? Hopefully at the end I'll at least have a 3DS I can sell and even the DSi if anyone still buys them.

PS It's 9.8.0-25E so presumably some sort of downgrading will be required?

PPS Thanks for all the helpful replies :( I guess this is going to be brick land.
