64gb seems aint enough for me. Thus, I have to delete the old games for the new ones, it gives me cancer.

1) Any significant load time difference from 64gb to 128gb? I'm not sure if 128gb will load slower. *** Slow only home menu load time? Or it also affects load time in game play.

2) Homebrew app compatibility? I heard FBI/BBM/etc. not viable for 128gb.

3) I backup my emunand sd card by just copying all the files in sd card.
In case I ruined the sd card while transfering emunand&data to new 128gb card, would the restoration method work the same? With just copy-paste all the backup files into sd card again.

4) 64gb upgrade to 128gb, worth?

1) The 3ds will take longer to load with a 128gb sd.
2) Some homebrew won't read the sd card if it is 100gb+. Just fill 29gb and homebrew should be able to read the card iirc.
3) don't have an emunand so can't help with that.
4) Yes but beware that your bound to hit the 300 title limit with a 128gb sd.

Sawasdee Khrab! Welcome to GBAtemp. I'm not sure if it's true, but I have read that a 128gb card in a 3DS causes some strange bugs. I'm not sure what they are though, sorry :(

Here is my data for your reference.

N3DS: 11.2E A9LH + Luma3DS
64GB SD Card
24GB free space left.
Cold boot until all icons are loaded: 15seconds

N3DS XL: 11.2E A9LH + Luma3DS
128GB SD Card
60GB free space left.
Cold boot until all icons are loaded: 21seconds

So far only home menu load time is a little bit longer on 128GB. Load time in gameplay are both the same or no difference at all.
Havent encountered any homebrew that does not work on both 64GB or 128GB card yet.

Worth or not worth is totally down to your own preferences.
If you already need to delete titles on 64GB then by all means go for 128GB so you can keep everything in.
The extra few seconds of loading time from cold boot is really nothing.

Home menu is slightly laggy when scrolling left to right and vice versa, but that's it. Entering and exiting games is far snappier since I upgraded my storage amount since I was close to capacity on the 64gb card.

Don't think it's worth imo. I don't think you'll ever fill up the 64gb itself let alone a 128gb. Plus load times are indeed slower.

Filling up 64GB is easy, OP has already done it. But it's only necessary if you want to keep the entire library of good games on your 3DS at the same time. Usually I'm only playing 1-6 games around the same time so I toss the rest in folders until I'm done playing the ones I'm currently interested in, and if I'm getting short of space I delete games I've finished and will never play again.

Its not a9lh, you can't just copy it over. Emunand is an actual partition on your SD, so to backup/restore stuffs you have to dump emunand.bin via decrypt9 or some other program, then copy and paste the SD card contents.
After that your golden

Lml its not noobish. Its a hidden partition on your SD so you naturally wouldn't see it anyway. And by " its not a9lh" I mean just that-
In a9lh setup, the actual mod is stored on your 3ds nand partition, so it is run directly off your system, like an emunand that can boot without the SD card. Therefore, in an a9lh setup you can copy over your SD contents and continue on with life. With emunand, you have to dump the nand if you want to change sdcards

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And decrypt9 IMO is the best tool to dump it, its pretty strait forward

LOL arent a9lh and emunand the same...I use a9lh Luma N3DS.
I don't care much about the hacking lore. lel
Just want to know the decent method.

1) https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-transferring-working-emunand-to-a-new-sd-card.411342/
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-transfer-emunand-to-another-sd-card-working-on-new3ds.383684/
Who wins? I'd like to know "how to do" rather than 3ds hacking lore.
2) What will happen by the time I dump the emunand.bin already? Could the old sd card be working the same as before?
3) Can I have swap these 2 sd cards freely for only 1 3ds?

1)Dump emunand.bin and copy everything to a PC
2)Format emunand on the target SD card for emunand
3)copy the SD backup you made from the source SD into the target
4) restore emunand backup to target
5)Life continues
-Youd have to constantly backup and restore saves between each SD card if you like to swap them
-"Dump" has pretty much the same meaning as copy. Dumping emunand won't affect the source SD in any way

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

If your using a9lh just copy everything from the source SD to the target sd

If you want many 'backups' and don't care about an extended technical loading time for the many icons, then go for it :)
It's not only for game "backups". I have several NAND backups, a whole lot of Moon screenshots (last time I checked I had 509, now I obviously have more), a whole lot of savegames (and Smash extdata takes quite an amount of space, so you can imagine what it takes if I'm talking about several dumps), etc.

And the "fill your PC's HDD instead of your 3DS's SD card" argument doesn't apply to the N3DS with that stupid micro SD card behind two screws (and don't mention FileZilla, for two reasons: last time I used it it corrupted JKSM saves, and I don't have WiFi anyway).

So yeah, 128GB for an Old 3DS can be overkill (64 should be enough for most people if they manage it correctly) but for a N3DS I completely understand the need for twice the space.

1. The only thing this effects is boot times. Getting in and out of DS/DSi and GBA VC might be slower as a result (as they reboot the console). Nothing else is negatively impacted.
2. The only thing I've seen that breaks with more than 100GB of free space is DevMenu, which isn't even homebrew.

If you've reached a point where 64GB is too little, moving to 128GB is your next step.
