When I first joined, there used to be both GMs and Mods. GMs oversaw the whole forums and the Mods oversaw sections. There also used to be 2 to 3 mods per section, which really helped control the quality of posting on the site.
I've noticed since we've gotten right of the Mods and favor of just having a GM team, the quality of the site has really gone down. I am seeing far more issues coming up with flaming, harassment, trolling, bumping spam, ect. which did happen before, but was always quickly taken care of because we had a big enough staff to do it. But recently it seems the staff here are becoming grossly overworked or simply busy in real life to really dedicate enough time to dealing with these issues. Which is why I suggest we bring back the old Mod team to really delegate those tasks and really have a greater staff presence on the forums. Something to really help make the job easier for everyone, well improving the quality of the site.

I can say this tho, having moderated a few sites/game servers a while ago, and having done news reporting for one- moderating is not as easy as people think it is. The temp staff team works really hard right now, and so does the reporting team.

The Temp's staff has to be one of the best Staff I've ever seen. They are hardworking and honest people and best of all, they are approachable. I don't think anyone is afraid to talk to this staff, question them, give suggestion, ect. The staff here are obviously members who love this site and this community. They have this site's best interest in mind. Which why they work so hard to keep this site going.
Which is why I want to suggest helping them help us.

Looking back, there was at least a little internal discussion on bringing in people to help (there's a scrapped thread about it in the staff area), but for a reason that escapes me, I think it was something to do with adding limited permissions, it was never followed through with. I'm definitely interested to see what the mods' input is on this kind of idea now, a few months later.

And with this being a pretty active community (for better or for worse) helping out becomes even more important and useful! If any part of the staff start taking submissions, ill be right there, ready to help!

It would be nicer to have ore mods, maybe in different time zones so when it's night in Europe people can't shitpost until the sun comes up.

But they would have to get real people qualified for it and not just "the most popular people here" ya know?

Yeah, thats the problem with an election system like i was saying, the most popular user != the best mod....especially in the case of an old minecraft forum i did news/occasional moderating for, we gave one of the most popular users mod privileges cuz people wanted him to be mod, and within a day the site was wrecked :/

Three words, Nintendo 3DS & POKEMON. Opinion wise is the biggest issues with the site, most discussions are about those three things seeing as is the hot topic, while i try to ignore that, is not easy. I do wish i can have a delightful conversation without negatively impact or pressure about not feeling like wanting to try and communicate with some people, but is just what happens a lot.

Also having problems understanding people also don't help me sometimes but i try, just it gets out of hand and is pretty ruff struggle on all discussions. Wanring to stick to pm which is very simple and basic just cause of the kind of way things happen around here is very off putting. I haven't been here as long as some others have been but is hard to explain this at the moment exactly what i mean with this post.

And not just qualified people, but qualified people that have the time to dedicate to taking the trash out at that specific part of day where the spam runs rampant.

Isnt most of the mod team in EU time zones? it makes sense if the whole mod team is asleep at one time, spam would be abundant there.

IMO more emphasis should be placed on the "qualified" part. Available time often fluctuates, and in the event a moderator lacks the time at some point, more moderators can be recruited.

Well, having enough time would be included with being qualified I would think.

It's a really good idea to have this IMO. Most of Project Pokemon's staff is all over the world, which helps a lot, since we're staffed pretty much all the time. (It can get a little annoying sometimes considering the other lead admin I'm working with is on the other side of the world, and we can only be online together for a little bit at a time.)

Actually, checking the staff list, and it's split evenly.

Well, if the mod team/news team needs any help from here in the US, i dont really have much going on right now :P
Write some user reviews! That goes to anyone who's interested in the news team.

IPB temp was a lot different from Xenforo temp.
Around the time that the 3DS got hacked is where things started to spiral down really.

Sadly enough, I agree with this post.
Although I used to be more of a lurker than an active poster, i've seen how threads either derail quickly, people jump on n00bz that can't use the search functions, or n00bz like certain people pester devs to do stuff for them when that isn't how this whole thing works.
I used to lurk on NDS/PSP sections and although the temp exploded once pokemon games were launched and the AP didn't let people play them, it was never as bad as the bashing that can go on at times in the 3ds section.

If it's true most of the current staff is in Europe, US staff would certainly help. It's 8:31 PM right now for me, and 2:30-3:30 AM in certain parts of Europe.
ayy whadda ya know, its 8:31 here too

In all seriousness, the idea of a global mod team can make moderating a whole lot easier, since there arent any "dead times" when mods are offline.

Well, I think you would have to fill out a sheet or form or something to see if you're qualified. It's something to say "I can help" but it's another thing for them to see if you guys can help.
