The latest nightlys don't have screen tearing.
Okay wow, so i guess it finally has been fixed. amazing.

EDIT: I take it back. Retroarch still has serious issues that affect all cores.
No matter how i configure it something is seriously wrong with the look of the games.
I chose a game where it is really simple to demonstrate, Link - Oracle of Ages for GBC.
The lines that are supposed to be his eyes change thickness depending on where he stands.

What is going on here?

It is probably because you are scaling the image/rendering. If you play 1:1 (1pixel output for 1pixel input, ie. native resolution), I suppose you won't have this issue

i chose 16:15 (1:1 Parity).
The same thing happens on 1:1, too, just worse.

Hello whats is the best build for gpsp to run with no crashes on 2ds gateway/aureinand. Have tested stable 1.3.6 version and 1.3.3 have screen tearing and crashes
after few minutes :( with my pokemon rom hack like light platinum and co.

Nightlybuilds the same way no screen tearing
after few minutes crashed the same :/.

Which emulator should I use to run Boktai?
The retroarch mGBA build plays, but is incredibly choppy.
The mGBA build from https://mgba.io/ runs the game incredibly smooth, but I can't find an option to emulate the sensor.
The gPSP retroarch nightly just puts me in the quick menu every time I try to load the rom.
The stable gPSP retroarch gives me a data abort and crashes the whole 3DS.

Any idea?

It's doing that because you don't have bilinear filtering enabled. If you enable that in your Video settings, it'll correct that. The tradeoff is that it'll be slightly blurred, but no more than if you were to enlarge a screenshot from GB resolution to 3DS resolution in photoshop (or a silimar image editing software).

For GBA emulation, you should go with injects (as mentioned by coinblock). The latest nightly of gPSP seems to play okay for me, but it's still not as good as an inject.

I haven't tried any of these personally but all three Boktai games have been button-combo-patched for their sensor functions, so using these as VC injections might be the way to go.

If I remember correctly Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse has a MMC5 chip and it works fine on FCEUmm, Nestopia and QuickNES.
I'm asking because I'm trying to play a romhack of Final Fantasy 3 that converts it to MMC5, and it doesn't work on QuickNES, which is apparently supposed to be the best core for an O3DS.

QuickNES's low compatibility seems to be the trade off for it running fast enough for O3DS.

Your last hope might be VC injection - but that's a pretty fussy emulator as well so I wouldn't get your hopes up, unfortunately.

Well I've been using Nestopia in a N3DS and I can run all of my NES hacks and homebrews just fine in it.
You might have to give it a try in one of the other two cores (Fceumm/Nestopia) and see if any of them runs it well on a O3DS.

Last I checked the more accurate cores (Nestopia and FCeumm) run unplayably slow on O3DS. Realistically speaking there's only QuickNES and VC injection, and generally speaking neither cope well with demanding / esoteric romhacks. The FF one needs to be tested as a VC injection (I'm happy to make & test one if the IPS patch for the rom can pointed to)..

Do you know if there's a working version of Nestopia around that also contains the new menu/3D slider effect? It seems that the most recent nightlies are still crashing every time a ROM is loaded.

I'm unaware to be honest, I haven't used any nightlies nor builds since September/Early October I believe, and I never use the 3D slider option.
Sorry. :/
