Ha, yeah.

I hope FIX94 notices this thread and needs to make a NAND restore.
I hardly doubt he will make it now.
I did leave him a message on what happened to my semi-bricked vWii.

So for now, we're just playing the waiting game.

Just hoping someone makes a NAND restore.
You need to tag him to get him to notice the thread, @FIX94

It seems to have opened the file correctly, so it likely is a .app file. Which program did you use to install the csm on the vWii? We need to find which .app was overwritten on the vWii.

So, what can we do to find which .app was overwritten on the vWii?

Dump the files from vWii and compare them to the files on the backup. I know that themes will edit a certain file on normal Wiis, depending on your region, but i have no idea which file it is on the vWii.

Got Compare Beyond, comparing the NAND and the theme.

looks like i'm in a pickle right now.
Any ideas on what to do next or do i have to wait for someone to make a NAND restore?

I'll be on GBATemp all day and reply to people on this thread.

This is going to be a looooooong time to fix this until @FIX94 responds me about this.

Tagging FIX94 every single time you post isn't going to make him appear any quicker. Dev's tend to hate stuff like that.

You really shouldn't mess around with stuff you don't understand anyway and it's very clear you have no idea how a lot of it works. You were the one messing around and messed it up. Don't put the blame on FIX94 for your screw-up. Throwing out guilt trips and acting like you're in a rush/going to die if nothing happens each time you tag him is immature.

I didn't blame on FIX94 for my screw-up, I'm sorry if i'm tagging him everytime, just finding a way to fix this.

I wasn't rushing at all, but if it did look like i was, then i was typing way too quick to even realize i was tagging him too much.

Yeah that's another problem haha. Unless someone is willing to dump their files and share. But honestly I have no idea if this could actually work or make it worse. Lol
I actually have mine dumped from a couple years ago. I don't think it would be any use, as it is unique for every console.

Dump the semi-bricked vWii nand and compare it to the nand backup, not the theme file.
There is a homebrew launcher app that can dump the files to the sd card.

Dimok's FT2SD or Crediar's FSdumper, i think both can dump slccmpt01 (vWii).

I have the NAND dump and the keys in my SD card, and the wuphax backup.
I messaged FIX94 a while ago, but he didn't respond yet.
For right now, i'm just waiting until i'm able to restore the NAND and be more careful in the future.
Honestly, i have no idea when FIX94 will even update to restore NAND or someone will make a app for it, and the shitty part is that
i can't get in the Homebrew Channel, the Forwarders, the Wii Options or even any apps at all, and if i do, it just sits there and freezes.
Luckily, this is not a full brick or otherwise i couldn't do anything.
right now, we have to wait if FIX94 can even add a way to restore NAND or message back at me.

its possible that he's working on it right as we speak, keep in mind your not the only one who screwed up the vwii, I did, but fourtantly I could fix it, I screwed up ios 36 by accident, I could link the ios and menu here. but.... gbattmpt doesn't like that. and of course we don't even know what files are necessary

Just follow FIX94's guide as follows:
(I have not done this myself so try it at your own risk, I also take no ctedit as it's fix94's work but it seems pretty logical to me)

Grab the current elf release of wuphax from the releases tab.
Download the hackmii installer and put only the boot.elf from that zip on your sd card root.
Make sure to unplug any and all usb devices before following any of these steps.
Put the wuphax.elf into your wiiu/apps folder on your sd card and run it in homebrew launcher.
Press A to back up your current mii channel and inject it with wuphax.
After the wiiu restarted, go into wii mode and run mii channel, install homebrew channel from there.
To restore the mii channel just run the elf again and press B this time.

This should replace the Mii channel and overwrite any previous mod, in turn you can reinstall the Homebrew channel wich will overwrite any previous mod also and fix the broken links that stop it from loading.

Mii Channel may be your only issue when restoring but with homebrew channel back a fix will be easier.

Eh are you sure of this?. A theme overwrites parts of system menu, if my memory serves right. The homebrew channel doesn't touch any of this, as far as I could tell.

I can't be sure but the only reason I can see the hbc being rendered unusable would be if it broke the file architecture, logically reinstalling should overwrite what was broken.

pffft are y'all really that foolish, you should be able to get a clean copy easily since we have the vWii key and someone made a tool to get titles from NUS so you can just get a copy now, you should be able to just install the titles from iosu since doing a system update works for vWii titles too, I remember a bunch of old threads about how vWii bricks broke system updates too

Isn't that more or less what I said though? :P except from getting titles from NUS
