There where a few bricks reported. No one knows the source of it so its easier to asume it has something to do with the otpless install.

3 successful otpless installed..
Plenty of successful installs here too. Like, a TON. But I also know someone who bricked with OTP-less while I was guiding him through it. He had everything set up correctly. It seems rare, but it does happen. More often than the old 2.1 method it seems.

I have one New 3DS LL bricked when doing optless follow this guide, no backup nand.bin. So can I fix it? I will do hardmod, but don't have nand.bin to write. Anyone help me?

How do you not have a NAND.bin, the guide specifically has you create one and back up to computer! Sell it for parts, now it's useless.

Also it was removed because 5-10 little pansies decided to cry wolf even though the guide warns about possibility of brick.

I have done 3, moving on to my 4th because I'm not chicken sh*t to keep with a method of <5% brick rate

There's an explanation about the cause of the OTPLess brick ?

I dont know why people didnt say yet but is fairly know what causes the brick, its a corruption on RAM/FCRAM during the mcu reboot for installation. Nobody knows however, why it gets corrupted. Aurora tried many things and couldnt replicate the problem on any of her systems, but still it happens occasionally with others.

I just think the ram of the 3ds is not that much trustable at all, seems like a bad quality one.

This.

If Gateway bricks, people will rally together to defend Gateway no matter what. If [OTPless] A9LH bricks (far fewer people), then people whine about it and attack A9LH.

Installing A9LH (or even downgrading for any reason) always carries a (small) risk of bricking. To be honest, I find it disappointing to see so much anti-OTPless—or even anti-A9LH—rhetoric and fear mongering.

It was removed from the guide because the brick rate was indisputably higher than the 2.1 ctrtransfer, and the 2.1 ctrtransfer isn't that big of a hassle to warrant increasing your brick chance to avoid.

OTPless is nice. When it doesn't randomly brick people, it will be an awesome achievement. It doesn't seem fully there yet.

The thing is that the risk isn't reduced that much when we account for human error (which was almost null with OTPLess method).

Here are some stats for the US:
Odd of dying in car crash 1/113
Odd of dying in pedestrian accident 1/672

Let me ask you this, do you walk everywhere?

I reported a brick here. But i was using 2.5 version and was 1 between more then 100 than i did successful. To be exact alredy complete more than 200. only the last month was 48 units.

Like i said its not 100% safe. But i dont see reason to remove it at all.

Not sure if you are in the same GBATemp as I am in because every time *something* bricks, GW always gets shit on regardless of whether it is related or not. It's always name-calling and pitchfork galore. As for A9LH, there was a time when the elitism was just downright terrible with all the masterrace-ing and what have you. And then there's the Menuhax guardians and the order of RXTools.

In these two pages, I have yet to see anything remotely vitriolic. The arguments are presented in a civilised manner at the very least. It's all about risk minimisation which I feel is a responsible thing to do. If you want to do down the OTPless route, knock yourself out. Nobody is saying you can't. It's the ones who know next to nothing who should be given the safest possible option.

I don't think that is an apt comparison because there is significant benefit of one option over the other.

Something more suitable would be the difference in odds of dying in a red car vs that in a blue car. If one is repeatedly higher than the other AND there is no sound explanation as to why it happens, would you still pick the one that presents with the elevated risk?

There is a benefit to OTPLess, it saves time and eliminates a set of steps that can introduce human error. My point is the risks are minimal, we aren't talking about 30%

When Slowhax releases I will be installing A9LH on my N3DS XL, that means I have to downgrade to 2.1?
(BTW, my siblings just like to close my 3DS/DS lite/DSi if they find it open just because reasons)

Yes you will have to downgrade 9.2 then ctrtransfer to 2.1
