I have 2 New 3DS'

I updated both of them to 11.1 and also updated to the latest version of Luma3DS.

One of them boots perfectly, but the other one no longer boots into emunand, it just hangs on a black screen.
(the only way i was able to bypass the freeze was to set the option in the Luma config to boot into sysnand on startup.

Is there anything wrong with using SysNand from now on?

Also has anyone else had this problem? I find it pretty weird, one worked perfect after the update and the other just had a brainfart.

I've had emuNANDs fail after updating too for no explicable reason. Creating a new emuNAND and updating it again is probably the only way to solve the problem.

Or just use SysNAND.

Interestiong question, @Filo97.
Since I plan on regionchanging and you use sysUpdater in emuNAND on Luma3DS anyways, but still wonder what happens, and I feel the regionchanging emuNAND is outdated as hell...

If you have A9LH then downgrading/updating via sysupdater is risky since CIAs can alter NAND and you will brick. To downgrade use a CTRNAND transfer.

A user just got bricked doing this so be careful. https://gbatemp.net/threads/help-bricked-a9lh-new-3ds.446763/

Edit: Unless you were talking about updating via system settings in the 3DS in which yes this does protect A9LH.

i flash sysnand to emunand then downgrade emunand, and flash emunand back to sysnand.

is that safe? i do have a9lh

i use the "NAND Restore (keep a9lh)" option on Decrypt9

I haven't tried this, but I don't think this will mess up the A9LH installation since it will write to the FIRMs on the EmuNAND and the "NAND Restore (keep a9lh)" will prevent this from overwriting the SysNAND firms.

The question is, will this boot? I don't know, you should retain ability to load payloads tho so you can restore a backup. I would try to boot EmuNAND after downgrade before even flashing it to SysNAND.

Prior to doing anything make a dump the NAND and CTRNAND from SysNAND and also copy the Nintendo 3DS folder.

Again if this bricks your console, it's not my fault as I haven't tried it, but I think based on my understanding of the structure this would work.

I did everything based on Plailect guide from 11.1. Just upgrade to 11.2 with no issues.

I've been away for a while here. I'm running game Luma 5.2 a9lh. I assume I'll need to update a9 and Luma to play the new pokemon games in a couple weeks. I know how to install and update. My question is what are torrent files and how do I get the payloads other then them? I have my otp files. Why do I need the aes file if I have my otp?

Here is the guide with torrent links to update A9LH: https://plailect.github.io/Guide/updating-a9lh

Update luma through the updated app if you have installed, if not get it from here: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v6.3.1
