The US ROM works. Have you tried that?
For my build, did you put the ROM in "sd:/DeSmuME/roms/" and called it "default.nds"?
I was using the EUR ROM, and called it NSMB.nds; I'll try it like this.

Hmm interesting! What do you mean by "now we can load old homebrew from SD card"? Sorry it's late my brain is not functioning
Old homebrew like MegaETK and Moonshell, which can only read Slot-1, can now read/write to SD card, via a DLDI driver, and patching the ARM7 code.

I still feel like an emulator with native hardware acceleration would be cool. would make stuff like save states possible.
