Nope. The only thing you can run on with OtherOS are things made specifically for the PS3 and OtherOS. This is because the PS3 uses a CELL architecture CPU, not x86 like standard PCs, so unless whatever game/app you want to use was compiled to work with CELL it's not going to run on any Linux distro on the PS3.

Not to mention OtherOS didn't even have full access to the PS3's hardware, so I can't imagine anyone even bothered trying to port any games to it.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but can the PS4 Linux that hackers developed for 1.76 and 4.01 play Linux ported games? BTW I am asking this because I play some Windows only games and people have ported them over to Linux as well. Also is there Linux Wine for PS4?

Could it run Linux games? Sure. But the problem comes with drivers and the kernel. I know failoverflow announced in the beginning of the year that they got 3D acceleration working with the GPU (so some games will actually "run") but the CPU is still bottlenecked to <1ghz (I forgot the exact number, but it wasn't great) so nothing really runs well at the moment. Until they fix those issues (and release it), nothing heavy is going to run.

But I don't think failoverflow has announced any progress since March, so even if the 4.01 exploit is released you won't be running anything until failoverflow (or someone else) updates the codebase.

Well I am gonna be honest I wanna play ported Wizard101 (I am addicted to that game). Its a REALLY crappy game. Same with ESO. You think either of those ports have a chance of running?

Maybe? Nobody has any idea at this point. It really depends on how well the software end gets developed. Some games could run fine, some games might not. Wine might not work at all with the custom drivers, or it might work fine.

If we could get the drivers working as if it were just another Linux build, then yeah (assuming those games are playable on Linux already, which I would imagine they are). But it's going to take time, if it hasn't been done yet.
